My Actifit Report Card: October 23 2019
I'm pretty tired this evening. This morning I rode over to an eighteen basket disc golf course and played a casual round with someone that arrived at the course at the same time. We had played before one time so we kind of knew each other.
He ended up winning by about five throws or so. The score was pretty close for most of the round until I had a really tough time on one of the baskets.
It was a lot of fun to play with someone else and keep score. I usually don't track my score when I play a tough course like the one we were playing.
I found a disc on the course and rode my e-bike a bit out of the way on the way back to drop it off for them. It wasn't that far but the miles do add up when you are on a bike.
As I was getting into town I was pretty tired out and not paying that much attention. Someone passed me in the middle of a round about. It was really dangerous and they came very close to hitting me. I had the feeling they were mad at me because I was not riding over far enough or something.
There is really no place to go the way these intersections are designed. It should be against the law to pass someone in an intersection like this. (You are supposed to give at least two feet when you pass a bicycle plus the car forces the bicycle to go straight if it passes that way and it is not yielding the right of way to traffic already in the circle.)
In the cars defense perhaps they were not paying much attention either. The bicycle lane goes away just before the intersection and then reappears after it. I'm not sure what the city expects the bicycle to do. They should at least continue to paint the bicycle lane lines in dashed lines and put up a sign, "DO NOT PASS BICYCLES!!!" (Maybe with a little scull and crossbones for emphasis, lol.) ☠
Anyhow, enough ranting for now I guess. I expect nothing will get done about it until a few people kick the bucket, "NOT IT!" LOL.

Thank you much! It sure is a gorgeous time of year, I especially like the fall and spring for picture taking. Yes, they are not that aware of cyclists around here but it is getting better. People are very aware of pedestrians and do a great job of stopping to let them cross.

I wish they would build the roads to accommodate bicycle riders. Sometimes here the roads are so narrow and if traffic is busy there is no way to get over in a car and nowhere for bikers to ride safely. It's hard to share a space that was not made with both in mind.

Certain places, (like the middle of an intersection or curve) are really bad for trying to pass a bicycle. Some of the lanes on traffic circles or bridges around here are so small but if traffic would slow up for just a bit it would really help. Some of the bike paths are are dangerous too for traveling at high speed by bike on because of walking, jogging, dogs, strollers, clowns.... lol. (I guess I must be getting older.)
At a certain point the roads get so congested with traffic that it actually gets easier to get around on a bike. I used to beat traffic home all the time when I used to commute by bike back in Colorado. You get a lot less traffic noise when your the one passing all the cars at rush hour. That area was much better designed for bicycles.

Thank you. It was a good kind of tired and I was not as tired as I would be riding a regular bike. I'm not sure what it is that they are thinking sometimes when they pass that way. The lane is very narrow and curvy plus I'm riding very close to the speed limit. Pretty scary and poorly designed by the city.
Well glad it was a good kind of tired and I guess when your going so fast some cars don't really think about it and what they are doing
