My Actifit Report Card: November 7 2018 - Super Busy Morning / Dog Walks / Smooth But Off-putting Work Day

in #actifit8 years ago

Did you know statistically speaking it takes seven days to make a habit but 21 days to break it? Today is day six breaking my habit of staying up late and making a habit of getting up early, so far I’m not so sleep deprived and with work running so late in the evening I am actually feeling ready for bed.

I woke up this morning about 6:30 AM leaving me plenty of time to get all my daily stuff done before needing to be at work for 11 AM. I started with replying to some comments while waiting on my coffee to brew then moved into writing my first post of the day.

The prompt for today by @MarianneWest of the @FreeWriteHouse was irritation, I bet you’ll be itching if you read mine 😅. After that I quickly sslapped together my vlog for the day about legalization of marijuana and how work for two Monday’s in a row the power has been off from kids stoned out of their trees street racing ending in them hitting power poles.

I reviewed my vlog while washing up dishes, consistently this morning I have been multitasking to make the best use possible of my time. While waiting for my vlog to render I hopped in the shower and threw my lunch together, Melissa made sandwiches last night so all I needed to do was get my coffee ready for the drive to work and toss yoghurt and berries in a container. No, I don’t typically eat breakfast as I find it just slows me down in the morning but I do often eat a sandwich on my way into work.

Jerry and I went out for our morning walk while I was waiting for my vlog uploading to DTube. We went for our usual Glenwood Meats loop heading to the vlogging trail afterwards, I had intended to record a vlog but I was distracted by the onslaught of comments and votes from my activity earlier in the morning. Jerry was quite content running around in the bush sniffing out what I assume to be a squirrel possibly a deer, I was distracted with my phone. It was a rather warm morning compared to the last few days making for a little more active JerBear. We were out for about 35 minutes but about 10 of that was spent standing replying to those pesky comments while Jerry was sniffing around. Returning home I quickly wrote a description, made a thumbnail, submitting my vlog just moments before walking out the door for work.

On my way into work I recorded two vlogs, one quick snap about alternate path not always being the best and another about an upcoming contest. What’s this contest you ask? #DropTheMop the first time around I had a couple takers as I was not in a place to run it as a contest instead I tried to make it a movement but I’m curious with some rewards on the line maybe I can get a few more people interested.

Work was pretty easy, hustled and did pretty well all the setup for the morning before the first dough was ready to be processed. After our first 5 mixes we had our department meeting which went rather well surprisingly. We have not had any further contamination complaints other then one which seemed to be a stock from most likely the multigrain seed bag which is out of the bakeries control. The one thing that was mentioned relative to our department specifically is about our focaccia not having enough salt some days and to much others. Our bakery has started tracking waste fairly In-depth with some crazy numbers laid out in weekly graphs, the week of our power outage was over 11k in bread thrown out for a wide array of reasons. Luckily we are one of the best departments but we also have the largest mistakes that would suggest if we have a really bad couple days that would quickly suggest to us being the worst.

The evening after our meeting was pretty quick and easy with myself doing most of the random things finishing up and hour early after cleaning a mixing bowl. Had one situation which when trying to raise questions about the new “policy” for focaccia salting I was left feeling dismissed, I’ll save you from the details but it was rather ridiculous. The day was good but that one thing made my leaving a work early feel like a necessity rather then a blessing.

The evening walk.... wait the evening walk.... hmm I guess I was shut down I was zoned right out for the whole thing, that situation had my mind preoccupied. I hate how things that many others can dismiss will often linger on me. Our walk was cold but we did the full loop around the neighbourhood. Nothing to interesting other then I had to cut through the grass at the park as there was some sort of construction on the trail. Jerry was stoked to go home after being out for I would assume 40 mins, seriously I don’t really remember much.

This evening I had to give Jerry a couple anxiety pills to prepare for his vet appointment in the morning. Getting up super early tomorrow hopefully I can manage to get one of my two vlogs up before I leave the house as driving back home afterwards will be ridiculous. Now I’m off to bed for my new norm 10 PM.Not sure if I can get to bed much earlier but I am pretty happy with that compared to the 2am I had been sustaining for the past 2 months or so.

Damn, quite the day bro. 19K steps, awesome job!

7 days, are you sure? I heard that it takes 30 days to create a habit, but I could be wrong, I am quite the stoner and my memory just isn't what it use to be LOL. Anyhow great post, I really enjoyed reading it :)

Yea yesterday was pretty intense, I’m surprised with myself. Almost made my 20k steps daily goal even which is pretty amazing considering I was focused more on getting all the other things done 😅

The habit thing, I guess the article I was reading is a little outdated and derived from a study done by a surgeon speaking of his observations with phantom limb sensations persisting for 21 days.... really the habits are made and broken based on complexity and consistency here is a good article on the subject

Now depending on where you look the idea of 21 days is considered dogma with little statistical information to back it up. Something like adjusting sleeping schedule where your body requires adjustment to the change becomes easier after 7 days but to completely break a habit can take up to 6 weeks depending on complexity and desire to make the change.

Thanks for making me dig a little deeper on this subject, I still feel the 7 days is accurate for my situation of getting up early but I may be fighting to go to sleep earlier for at least 21 possibly longer.

Lol no sweat about being a stoner, I smoke a fair amount of weed also. I wouldn’t be as open minded as I am today if it wasn’t so, do what you love and love what you do and ohh MJ I love you 😉

Thanks for stopping in glad you enjoyed it 💪, I try my hardest to keep each post entertaining while still remaining informational.... my underlying message of everything I do is “if I can do it so can you!” stemming from my self derived challenge of taking on vlogging with having no previous experience prior to DTube of recording or editing videos to becoming a founder of #OneLoveDTube.

I think 35 minutes are enough to get muscles active and healthy body. You have done a lot of tasks in few minutes which is super cool 😎. @coolguy222

Yea dude I hit that 35 min mark twice a day while out walking the dog, work is nonstop activity though. The whole reason I am no longer chubby is because of the consistent activity at work and largely the reason for my 10k plus steps daily, don’t underestimate the sweat and tears that goes into the creation of your favourite artisan bakery goods 😆. I consider it the same level of effort as being a construction worker but working with time sensitive product adds a little onus to keep moving quickly.

Thanks for popping in my friend 💪
