Actifit iOS V0.3.4 - Major Improvement
I guess Apple started to love Actifit .. as their approval speed has been improving over the last few updates and particularly this last one ! :)
As we have noted in the prior announcement, we are excited to bring you another update to Actifit iOS app, and the importance of this update is two-fold:
1- No more lost Activity: We've learnt from the community, under many scenarios and different phone models, that Actifit had been losing track of some activity - mostly in background mode. So we worked hard along with our wonderful beta testers and the dev team to ensure this key metric is well registered and supported. Our new approach now relies completely on the recorded data as provided by iPhone devices' sensors.
2- No need to keep the app running: The above approach reflects positively on battery consumption as well. You no longer need to even have the app open. Whenever you want to check your activity record, you can open the app, and you will see the actual tracked number for this day without the need to having had the app open before during the day. Heck..you might not even open the app until you decide to send your report, and that should work out completely fine! Of course .. be careful, not opening the app before midnight will lead to the activity of that day to be lost and hence, no reward, obviously :) So make sure to open the app once per day at least to post your activity, or maybe check on the competition :)
So as of now, we advise all of our iOS users to go ahead and update their current version to benefit from this improved experience.
Actifit.io Busy Links
As many are already aware, Steemit (the website) hasn't seen any serious improvements for as long as we recall. Busy on the other hand, stands to be a much better front end that provides a richer experience, more functionality, and in short, better represents the Steem blockchain IOHO. Hence, and after suggestions by our advisors, we decided to transition all the links on Actifit.io, to point users and visitors to busy.org instead of Steemit.com. The sole link that still points to Steemit is the signup link, which we aim with HF20 to also move into our own signup process, allowing us to handle that aspect of user signups using RCs. More on that in future updates.
So until the full user experience gets ready on Actifit.io, which we are constantly upgrading, links not supported by Actifit will direct to busy.org.
Competition and Discord H&F Tips Sessions
So as we have this latest iOS version rolled out, we believe both the Android and iOS experience for both user communities is now almost optimal in terms of tracking activity (we are still very early in terms of the functionality we plan for the future of Actifit ... we're just getting started! oh and wearable people, we did NOT forget about you,we are working on the integrations:) ).
So this progress thus far puts us on track to start with some of our next plans for the community: Competitions and Discord H&F Sessions!
1- We will be announcing, in the coming few days, the first official Actifit competition which will include large AFIT token prize (and Steem upvotes too :) )
2- As we mentioned few days back, we have been in communication with trainers and athletes on Steemit to initiate weekly discord health and fitness sessions, whereby trainers/athletes share their experience, knowledge, and advice with the community, which further extends Actifit's mission to help spread and incentivize healthy and fit lifestyle. Dates, timing, as well as the guests will be announced within this week, so keep an eye on our announcements!
And if you haven't joined our discord yet, please make sure to do so!
Weekly Payments
Today is Monday, and this is weekly "Steem" payday to our delegators, who in addition to their daily AFIT token rewards, are actually sharing a 5% beneficiary reward from Actifit posts.
Today's payout consisted of 44.638 STEEM sent out to 201 delegators (compared to 41.443 STEEM sent out to 193 delegators the prior week).

@resiliencia(500 SP)
@georgemales(103 SP)
@mikefrancis(10 SP)
Accordingly, @actifit account now is at 119,699 SP
Thank you to all delegators for the wonderful support!
Delegators share a max cap of 100K AFIT tokens according to their delegation amount, and also earn a 5% beneficiary reward from actifit posts' beneficiary earnings.
Since many ask, here we describe again an easy way to calculate your AFIT tokens for a full day of delegations:
(Your Delegated SP) * 100,000 AFIT MAX / (Actifit Account Delegated SP - without account own SP and any delegators who opted out).
So for instance if you had delegated 100 SP, your daily earnings would be around:
100 * 100,000 / 118,000 = 84.74 AFITs
We are always appreciative of more delegations to be able to better award actifitters and support our project, so thank you for doing that !
When you are looking to increase your delegation, you need to use the new total amount as the delegation amount, and not only the increased amount. Otherwise only the new amount will be used, and the remaining amount will be undelegated.
To delegate, you can use any of the following links:
10SP, 20SP, 30SP, 50SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1,000SP, 5,000SP, 10,000SP, 20,000SP, Custom Amount
Make sure you have at least 15 SP left on your account.

@actifit team
This is a major update, with significant announcements. I am particularly interested in the switch to Busy, though I myself favor SteemPeak. The activities and competitions also sound like they could be great fun!
As usual, however, I did have some issues in terms of style and grammar, and will cite a couple of examples:
"and you will see the actual tracked number for this day without the need to having had the app open before during the day." There are multiple issues with this one. "This day" refers to today. "That day" would have been the appropriate word. "without the need to having had the app open before" is... I'm guessing there was an aborted edit there? This looks like a couple of versions of a sentence mashed together. How about "without having to keep app open"?
"will lead to the activity of that day to be lost and hence," doesn't quite work. How about "will lead to the activity of that day being lost and hence"?
"for as long as we recall" should be "for as long as we can recall."
These issues aren't huge, and don't have a huge effect on the post's readability. However, as always, I would urge you to work on improving them. Actifit is going to be a big deal, and its posts should reflect that.

@actifit I just downloaded the app today and it's counting steps sometimes when it should not. So the detection algorithm is not sophisticated enough ( maybe tracking other sensors would help )
Maybe use the google Step counter it's batteries friendly and free.
Helpfull Links :

https://scholar.google.de/scholar?hl=de&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=step+counting+algorithm+android&oq=step+counting+algorithm+andr
but still nice movement, I'll try it for a month or so :D ( wanted to do more Fitness this month, so why not get paid for it )
Awesome work.
Have a great day
Thank you for the nice comment and suggestions. We are in fact using a google algo for tracking activity :)
We haven't used the HW default step counter on Android as on many devices it is missing, and we faced many difficulties when using it during our earlier versions. Yet we will probably be doing such move soon while keeping the SW algo for cases of missing step sensors.
We're looking forward to rewarding your posts :)
That's what I found too, a lot of smartphone actually does not have a dedicated hardware pedometer maybe then use both I think the playstore can make the difference between devices. But still a lot of work. Good luck guys. Hope my friends will then install it and use it :p. Can't wait for the smt and thank you for the warm welcome :)
So what do I need to do to upgrade my android so that it does not have to have the app open all the time. I loose so many steps by accidentally closing it and it just kills my battery. I have to recharge like 2 or 3 times a day on this old phone.
I sorta have the same issue with my iPhone a new battery may help
Easy. Get a new phone with a better battery
For now on Android this is not possible. With android unfortunately many phones do not have the proper HW to track activity, and hence we had to move to SW approach. We might be looking into changing this approach, if and where supported.
Ahhh!!
I have updated the version now and I have the real count!!
It’s a pity because I posted my first @actifit card 30’ ago!!!
https://steemit.com/actifit/@toofasteddie/actifit-toofasteddie-20180910t201239698z
Yayyyy I can’t wait to download the update
Well done, @toofasteddie! ;)
A similar update for Android is also needed. Too many times the numbers reported by the app are not fitting the ones from the native application. At least for my Samsung phone, the results from the S-Health looks much much reliable...
We haven't used the HW default step counter on Android as on many devices it is missing, and we faced many difficulties when using it during our earlier versions.
Although most of the reports we get is that Actifit provides more accurate results, or at least slightly larger count.
Yet we will probably be doing such move soon while keeping the SW algo for cases of missing step sensors.
Excellent!! I just installed yesterday and I have another release? you are working hard! Congratulations!
Great news!
I am so looking forward to the first official Actifit competition! Sounds fun.
What a great idea! Can't wait!
How do you earn Actifit tokens ?
Posted using Partiko iOS
Hi! You can either download the app, which will track your activity. When it is over 5000 count, you can post to steemit and you will be rewarded tokens + actifit upvotes. (The activity resets every 24h)
If you have upvoted on actifit posts, chances are that you already have tokens :) (1 token = 1 upvote)
If you delegate, you get a ROI approximately 8:10 (for every 10 SP you get a daily 8 tokens)
If you follow the trail of actifit, with every upvote, you get a token.
