RE: Abuse Series: Deceit

in #abuseseries6 years ago

Abuse is a problem on the steem blockchain, but if you think about it. It's a great backhanded compliment, it shows that steem has real value. Enough to motivate people to spend time and energy to earn some. Unfortunately, these misguided souls have chosen the dark side.

I am very hopeful for the future of STEEM as I have first hand experience of the great work done by people like yourself, @enforcer48.

We now have @steemflagrewards that gives monetary rewards to abuse fighters. I think this is a game changer and it's something we didn't have when I first joined this platform.

I hope to read more about the work being done by @iamstan and utopian on the #antiabuse front and make some meaningful contributions.

Let's get our house in order, we are expecting a lot of new guests, if @ned's "destiny" project is what most expect it to be.

I agree that abuse is a problem, but I think working against it will eventually turn into a huge boon. Abuse is a big issue in the whole cryptosphere and has been since the beginning. The visibility of the abuse, and the ability of normal users to intervene against abuse is something I think sets steem apart in a great way. There will always be bad actors but my hope is that we can learn to manage it on this blockchain. Then, if I may be so precariously optimistic, what is learned here could possibly be used to help fight abuse effectively in other blockchain projects. But perhaps there will be no such interoperable lessons to be learned, or we could fail to learn them or even fail to substantially mitigate abuse.

But here's hoping we can!

Enough to motivate people to spend time and energy to earn some. Unfortunately, these misguided souls have chosen the dark side.

Well said! There are definetly so many legit ways to make money on here! Yes you might not make a lot (its hard for small accounts!) but it is much more satisfying than essentially robbing people

Unfortunately it's not just small accounts, there are large accounts too who spam the platform with low to little value content. Self vote or vote via a proxy and then extract the resulting Steem from the reward pool. A lot of this steem is quickly dumped onto exchanges suppressing the price

it shows that steem has real value. Enough to motivate people to spend time and energy to earn some.

And that value is derived from investors and people who are building dapps and communities. They are essentially trying to ride off with other people's accomplishments.

We shall see how @ned's project bring about new changes.
