Photo Fun Contest - Week 21 – "Old & Abandoned" Photography - Nikolaikirche

The Church of St. Nicholas was completed in 1195 and was the tallest building in the world from 1874-1876. The tower is basically all that remains since the bombing of Hamburg in WWII destroyed the bulk of the cathedral. Today it serves as a memorial and an important architectural landmark for the city of Hamburg.
