SPUD on

To SPUD or not?

SPUD stands for Steem Power Up Day.
It is the first day of the year and month so today it is SPUD day.

It seems you support SPUD if you:

  1. Power up
  2. Not power down (if you do stop it)
  3. Not sell or transfer Steem
I have no idea if you can buy/invest in Steem today. I guess you cannot since a transfer is included and that is forbidden what makes one (read me) think.

Shall I support SPUD?

  1. I already do if I claim my rewards.
It is not SPUD with me daily but more as once a month.
  2. I stopped powering down.
I set my targets for 2020.
  3. I never sold Steem only bought it.
There is nothing to transfer it is not a contest day. Good idea to start the New Year and each month with not being generous. That fits into my New Year plan 2020 too.

Joining SPUD is not as easy as said.
It is @streetstyle who sets the rules if you like to win something. If you think there is no snake in the grass read first.

  1. You need a rep <69
  2. You must at least have a rep >40.
  3. You must have SP between <150 - <8000.
  4. You must have 1 post about SPUD.
  5. You need to power up on Januar 1st (who's Januar first I cannot tell).
  6. You must have a post about powering up on Januar first.
  7. You have to use the tag #spud or #spud9
  8. The winner will be the one with the biggest Steem Power Up Percentage.

Today I will claim my rewards.

Why? In the first place because it is the start of the new year and I set targets (double my SP in 2020 is one of them) in the second place because I usually do on Tuesday/Wednesday so I can check my earnings.

You can call it SPUD or not but it is what it is and a nice extra help to stick to my plan like the Dutch expression says it is good to have "een stok achter de deur" (a stick (baseball bat) behind the door (at hand).

It is the second time in a few days my rewards are suddenly claimed. I wish to know which button I "touched" to do so. I cannot remember I did and feel annoyed about it.

More power ups! More more more! I will also be SPUD’ing today! I hope that 2020 is a great year for you both on and off steem 😁

I stopped "spudding" with liquid steem for months. I've been spending it on rental and leasing. The more I lease, the faster I grow to that level from my curating income.

I can spud from other cryptos, but I don't have any other crypto anymore since I sold the rest and bought steems at $4 $2 $1. Had I kept those until today only I spud... OK never mind. LTC and XRP also dropped substantially 😂

LOL I still have my other crypto’s I got some in Celsius and Crypto.com bringing me interest but nothing as good as dlease! I power up every bit I have and lease as much as I can that I feel won’t affect my use of the platform! I’ll keep milking it while it’s favourable and see how large of an account I can build

Besides this is the most fun crypto to use, the others got nothing fun going for them yet

Great, so far I haven't rented your SP yet 🤠

LOL I’ll look out for some orders! More SP more problems man, but I like problems! I wonder how far I can milk this before the South African Rand makes it impossible to get a decent stake lol so I’m getting while it’s good

You like problems 😁

Lol whays life without them? Don’t think there is one so might as well embrace them right?

@chekohler You are right. Once embracing them they are no longer a problem. 🤣

How does that work? I never leased 🤔

So you go to the dlease site and see what offers are on the marketplace! People are willing to pay you a daily fee for a delegation so I pick out the best leases for my steem power and get a daily payment of say 2 steem per day for my delegations

@chekohler I need to puzzle this out once I have a better connection. Thanks for taking the time to explain this. 💕

You do not receive other tokens? I agree it is all worth less till 0. We see what happens this year. There isn't one film written with cryptocurrencies so I guess it will not be the future (I doubt any payment that relies on power/electricity will be).

I still have some Steem in my bitvavo wallet. I will see what to do with it.
At the time cryptocurrencies still had value I didn't know how to sell... same with Steem. I lost a lot of money because of that and the lack of a manual and help here on Steem.

I just decided I'm too lazy to keep track of so many wallet, and sold everything for #steem thinking this may be my final destination.

Outgoing channel, I usually uses peer to peer transactions. My local are remitano, which I can opt for BTC, ETH and USDT for transactions. I remember I read it somewhere of your location, but I just can't recall it. I guess localbitcoins.com should work anywhere.

@davidke20 Thank you for the info. I started with more wallets too but it was too much and each of them had its issues. Now I use Bitvavo only once in a while. I hope Steem will do better one day again.

I did not make it or do it on purpose. I do if I redeem the rewards and why it happened before I hit that button I still don't know.

They were claimed or someone started a power down?

I guess some button pressed accidentally , they were claimed. I usually use @partiko for that. 🤔

"meow...." my daughter says that alot btw....anyhow, thank you for joining us in support of #spud and of course #spud9 is completely voluntary and cost nothing to participate and support.

The prizes are meant to incentivize the smaller Steem accounts to Power Up their Steem in order at a shot at some of the sponsored prizes, with the top prizes being 3 week delegations. This hopefully will show the winners what is it like to hold a nice amount of Steem Power and the effects it can wield for both one's own account as well as others when you up vote them.

As for claiming your rewards, that comes from hitting that black rectangle next to your rewards that says "Redeem Rewards." When doing so you get your Steem, Steem Dollars (when there are any for payout), and your Steem Power.

For the rules, we don't consider redeeming your Steem Power "Rewards" as Powering up, only when you take Steem, no matter how you acquired it, and then Transfer it over or convert it to Steem Power.

I do as I am sure the rest of the community truly appreciates your support as well as your Stopping your Power Down. In fact, it would be amazing if we could get many more to stop there power down too...but alas I am just greatful that people support SPUD and do their power ups.

Anyhow, take care, hope to you for the next SPUD communty event, as I know you do your own SPUD as well. Happy New Year 2020!!

I did not hit the triangle as far as I can remember and generally speaking I use @partiko to do so. It doesn't matter since the week was over.

I doubt you can stop people from powering down. Those who do need the money to live from. If a family can live from 60 Steem it says enough about poverty.

I powered down because I wanted the steem I bought back. That is the only reason. I invested in Steem to give people a higher upvote. Since we need to eat too and my account is growing I think that's fair enough.

With my other account I already proved it is nearly impossible to grow here as a newbie unless you have money to invest. With that account I even join contests I know about and a newbie does not but the benefit is 0.

Hello @wakeupkitty oh, on Partiko it might different but yes it probably happened there and you didn't even notice it.

And yes, powering down for some is a must in order to survive. I accept that about the Steem platform, in fact that is what I love about it. The fact that I can help someone across the world support themselves through the Steem blockchain is why I am here.
When Bitcoin prices where flying high, so were all other cryptos, but now that Bitcoin is struggling it reflects on other crypto projects in both their price and participation. Nonetheless there are still many here on the Steem blockchain in one form or another. The trick here for any account, new or old, is to put out something of worth, it doesn't really matter what it is so long as it is truly yours and means something to you. Then interacting with others on here as much as possible. It won't be easy, and it won't be quick but eventually you will find your place, and it will find you and things will get better regardless of price.

Anyhow, Happy New Year 2020! Take care and Steem on!

@streetstyle Thank you for your answer. I think it is great people can make some money to survive here. If you can live from 60 Steem why not. So I have no problem with powering down since these accounts grow too and they are loyal and active users. Happy day ❤️
