How to bake without an oven?
To be honest I have no idea, yet.
I know an aunt had a "wonderpan". It was electric and meant for baking a cake. I never actually see her use it.
I promised @heartbeat1515 to find a way.
So far I tried 3 different options with cake dough.
- Frying in a pan
- Using a huge pan as an oven and put a mold in it
- Using a pan as a baking mold and hanging it into a pan of hot, close to boiling, water.
Frying in some oil...
If you manage to do this on a low fire and close the pan it might work.
Some of mine were a bit burned.
Using a huge pan on the stove.
The only reason I used a mold was to prevent the paper cupcake molds to collaps.
The result after 1 hour on the fire is disappointing. Still dough and partly burned (including the paper).
This will not do your pan any good.
The temp is easily 180°C I checked it with an oven thermometer.
This proved method was the biggest disappointment.
Over an hour later it remained the same except for being warm. It was more like porridge for babies which can be made in 7 minutes.
W.E. Coyote would say "back to the drawing board and that is exactly what I am going to do. I will figure out a way to bake a pie, make snacks, celebrate, without an oven.

I would concentrate on the frying thing. Experiment on that one. Perhaps also deep frying. Although I'm not that good at baking or cooking, but that that doesn't stop me from giving advises. :D Nice looking green dough though. :)

The deep frying I can no problem but I doubt you can make a cake with it.
I think about trying a kind of pancake idea and change the recipe. The idea is the keep it simple with basic ingredients.

The green is caused by an almond flavor. Kind of weird it has this color. I bought it once abroad. I had some food coloring too years ago. Good to confuse the brain with. 💕
About the deep frying, I once saw an anime(Yakitate! Japan) that deep fried a bread but the bread need to ne bake first. I never tried it though.
You just have to redefine the definition of cake. :D I dot that every time I mess up something when baking or cooking. "Whaaat! It's a cakeish thingy."

Depending on your climate, you could buy or make a solar cooker. I don't know if that's an option.
What is a solar cooker?
It's an oven that uses the sun to cook. If you do a search on You Tube, you'll find many different types and designs. Some even claim to be able to bake bread. I have never tried one, but it looks interesting.
That sounds interesting indeed nut out of experiences I know there are many types you can not bake in. I have an air fryer it doesn't work, neither does the "infra" oven. That one is good to warm up, defrost and make chicken.
I guess you need solar panels or can it be done underneath glass?
Some are open design, others are enclosed. To get the temperature up to actually bake something like bread, I would imagine you need a closed design.
I loaded some youtube videos and will study them. I think it might e a good option during summer. Winters are cold and many days no sun at all. Gor just warming up I might put the box inside the car during winters if the sun.shines and if once warm use the hay box..

This is quite a creative way to bake without an oven.
I have quite an aversion to cooking and suck at it. The single life comes with challenges for a guy like me, My microwave broke and I need a new one..

I have no microwave. I had but never could make a descent meal with it. What I hate most is a hot mug or bowl and cold food.

I do not prefer a microwave, but it's just easier to a man who sucks at cooking.
I inherited a microwave so to speak, and it broke after a couple of months, overuse? I don't know, but the idea of consuming food manipulated by radio active frequencies is not very appealing either.
For now I just begrudgingly cook simple food for survival purposes, despite feeling like there are better things I could be utilizing my time for.
Not sure if my logic makes any sense, sometimes it doesn't even make sense to me.

You do not have guarantee on that microwave. These days everything seems to be made to get broke asap.
If it works for you I would say: use it.
If you can bake an.omelet you can put all kind of things on it you see on a pizza too. Lid on the pan,low fire and you have a great meal.
Frying a piece of meat isn't that hard either.
I cook because we, mainly my childre n,need to eat. I doubt I would cook if I had no kids. It's no fun to cook for one alone and frequently I am no longer in the mood to eat after the cooking.
At times I cook for people or try out something.
Perhaps I can fry cookies in a pan 💕
It sounds like we think similarly. Really, I can cook decent meals if I'm in the mood and apply myself, it's just living alone and not having the motivation to cook makes it somewhat painstaking.
lol You're not alone with the oven problem. I have an oven that works, but only on broil.., so baking is pretty impossible, and my landlord doesn't fix anything, so.. I'm stuck with it.
