[CR] Smiling eyes
I’ve been working on this drawing in small doses this entire day. There were so many distractions throughout the evening but I’m proud of myself for getting it done.
I woke up late this morning, thinking that I wanted to draw something a bit more detailed. The days where I’ll have time to draw like this are numbered. I’ve already begun the search for a full time job. I considered part time work but I doubt I’d be able to find something that would work with our family’s schedule. It’s a little frustrating. Do I search for a higher paying job that will crush my soul or apply for something that I might enjoy. Ugh...this sucks.
Backtracking back to my thoughts on this drawing. I love it. I put in twice the effort to get the expression right, making adjustments with the liquify tool on Procreate until the eyes smiled back at me. I’ll probably share the recorded time lapse for this one because it was a lot of work.
The progress...
The pencils without all the fabulous shading.
First few layers of shade.
Introducing a deeper color for added depth.
Pencils in that same darker shade.
And a dark brush stroke so the highlights pop.
Remembering the old days (literally just a few months ago), I do wonder if we'll ever get Foxy tale-style contests back. Where we receive a sketch and just go from there. Lest I've been blind all these months and haven't seen them. Anyways, I probably comment not that much on yer blog anymore but good art pieces as always.

I’ve been working on a mini series for the fox tales contest for quite some time now but I’m having trouble finishing the last few images. Life has been pushing me further away from my contest but your comment has motivated me to get the ball rolling again.

I feel you for the distractions, as I've had to get out to the coffee shops and tea rooms to get some work done, as we are adjusting to our 'shared living' house with my friends. They are always in 'on holiday' mode, whilst I DO need to get some work done, but I suppose it'll work itself out.
I love the progress of this face and the graphic quality of the swipe of 'paint'.
This shops you’ve visited look like a dream. <3 I’m sure after some time passes then you’ll be back to your normal routine. The little one things that when I’m at home that means that we’ll be watching movies with each other all night. 😑
I’m glad to hear hour approval of the swipe of paint because it’s something I enjoyed.
Quite a dilemma your job search, it would be good something that you really enjoy but the safest thing is that you do not get much profit in exchange for the other option, although most likely it would be many hours and something that you are not comfortable is very annoying.
I love your drawing and what it shows, I spend hours trying to give it an emotion in the faces of my drawings and I never achieve it but I'm glad that you do. ;)
Uhhh... you understand. This is probably the biggest decision that I’ve been faced with. -_-
I’m sure you’ll be able to draw the expressions exactly how you want it soon. I see new drawings from you everyday and I know you’ll improve so much with all that practice!

Thanks! I’ve never drawn lips like that so it took a lot of effort to get them to look right.
