A Few Well Kept Mansions in Vila do Conde (Portugal)

Let's take a look at some of the incredible mansions we can find when we walk the street connecting the centre of Vila do Conde to the beach.

I started this stroll in the Jardim Júlio Graça, a public garden where a Street Market takes place, twice a month.

Right away, this gorgeous mansion caught my eye:

Here's a closer look. As you can see, we also have very well kept old houses, and not only decrepit old houses as you've seen in some of my earlier posts.

This one is almost in pristine condition. I wonder how many housekeepers, cleaning ladies and gardeners they hired to keep it like this, all year long.

Right next to it, there's a big and uninteresting yellow house... I haven't cared enough to take a photo. I liked its neighbour, though - this pink house to the left of the tree.

I wonder if the tree was planted during its construction... or if it was already there. It's such an amazing large tree, nearly as big as the house itself.

Here's a closer look at the front of the house. Very cool use of shingles surrounding the top floor of the house. It's not very usual to see them placed like that.

After a couple of more modern and very normal buildings, there's this low but huge mansion. Instead of the usual two floors, they decided to go with a not-so-common layout of a single floor.

It appears to be huge... and from the looks of it, they have two fireplaces on the same floor. Again, this house is very well maintained. They must spend a small fortune every month to keep it so tidy and clean.

Just a block away from the beach, there's this amazing little palace, with a superb solar exposition.

With such a perfect placement, they don't even need to walk the 200 meters that separate them from the beach. They can simply open a window and put a towel on the floor of the living room. Ah ah! 😂😂😂

What a cute house, no? But it must be a nightmare to clean.

The property is huge... and the backyard is big enough to fit at least another house like that!

From this intersection, the beach is just a hop away. Can you see the ocean, already? Yes, that little blue thing at the end of the street is the Atlantic Ocean...

By the beach, the constructions are more modern... and not as charming. And of course, they had to exaggerate on the sizes. Probably to show off. Just look how huge this mansion is.

Big... but kind of ugly. At least to me.

The next house is not as ugly... but it seems like the architect wasn't sure of which way to go. The layout seems to be a bit confusing, almost like a mix of styles, all mashed together.

The highest structure you can glimpse at a distance is the Church of Caxinas. In Portuguese, it's full name is Igreja Paroquial do Nosso Senhor dos Navegantes.
