DETAILS
The painting was created 2 years before I entered the Art Department at the University of Lethbridge. It must be said that this period around the mid-seventies was my most prolific. Even though I worked at that time for the Canadian Pacific Railway, I scheduled my runs in such a way that I had at least a week off each month to just paint! It is one of the few images from that time in my digital files, scanned from a slide. There are some more, such as my last post TANTALUS BEEHIVE. In time, I will post what I can find in my remaining old files. They are just the tip of the iceberg, since I had “lost” most of my work from that time without a record, many of them were sold in Canada and the USA through my gallerist in Lethbridge.

im Wallraf Richartz stand ich wie gefesselt eine halbe Stunde vor dem Bahnhof von Perpignan, im Versuch alle Details zu erfassen.
Du lädst noch eine Schaufel drauf. Spontane Kommentare daher beinahe undenkbar. Daher nehme ich mir die Freiheit, dem Werk mit einer Tastenkombination auf meiner Festplatte einen Zwischenaufenthalt zu verschaffen.
Morgen, in aller Frühe, folgen die Impressionen.

Danke - da bin ich jetzt aber sprachlos - ich war zwar damals vom Dali beeinflusst, aber den Zug vom Perpignan Bahnhof hätte ich fast verpasst. Jedenfalls bin ich gesund und heil in der Gegenwart angekommen. Aber sein Bild ist nicht nur viel größer, aber auch übersichtlicher. Ich habe horror vacui, da kann ich nicht anders als so viel in ein Bild hineinzukramen.
... Dalis Bahnhof mag vielleicht übersichtlicher sein, doch zu entdecken gibt es noch genügend. :)
Solange sich der Horror vor der Leere sich nur auf die Werke bezieht, geht es ja noch. Ansonsten möchte ich mit dir, der Staffelei und der nackten Leinwand die ersten 20 Minuten nicht alleine im Atelier verweilen.😉
Ist Hermaphrodite so wie zu sehen, dem Original gleich oder (zumindest nach oben) beschnitten? Was mir als Betrachter noch auffällt, ist die Tatsache, dass ich mich nicht entscheiden kann, ein Zentrum für mich festzulegen. Die räumliche Mitte des Werkes ist beinahe viel zu spannend, als Hermaphrodite als Paukenschlag zu werten wäre. Wenn ich das tosende Meer mit Zeus in Verbindung bringe, hätte ich mir beinahe noch mehr Kraft (Gewalt) gewünscht.
Aber mir bleibt ja noch viel Zeit. Es kommen und mich verjagen.

Painting as a collage...Collage as a painting only the smell of the paintings comes with it and you have to clean the brushes...may be the bathtub-girl can handle this.
I haven't seen here since then - already 5 years ago. The party would be worth a separate story, but I wait for the encore, which is supposed to happen in July.
