Dlike Issued First In A Series Of UpdatessteemCreated with Sketch.

@dlike is at work issuing a series of updates to their platform which will make it more feature rich for their users.

The first is this series was just rolled it. It added a few basic features that were missing.

There is now a category bar across the top of the screen. This allows for quicker navigation to the difference categories.

The site has the option of allowing users to subscribe to different categories. I do not know if they are the ones to appear at the top since I haven't had a chance to play with that.

Another feature that was included in this is the idea of tipping. This is something a few applications implemented and is a great way to reward other users. It is something that is just starting to be toyed with in the cryptocurrency world and, in my view, might hold great promise.

I am a big fan of updates from the applications. I understand that programming can take time and is wrought with difficulty. That said, I know the @dlike team has some big plans for this applications.

This is one that I feel holds tremendous potential. This is a cross between Reddit and Pinterest. While it is great for posting links (ala reddit) the feel is a lot more like Pinterest. The fact one can add pictures helps greatly.

Why do I like the potential of this application?

Ease of Use

This is a very easy application to use. There is little to no learning curve. Anyone who used Pinterest or even Reddit can use this instantly. Thus, it will not turn people away because it is too difficult. People do not want to spend a lot of time trying to learn new stuff. This application resembles what people already know.

The Value Potential

Pinterest is a highly successful company. The amount of posts on that site is astounding. I put it in another article I wrote some time back which touted the numbers. There were billions of posts put up by the members.

What does that equate to?

The company is aiming to go public by mid-2019, and has a current valuation of $13 billion to $15 billion, based on secondary market trading, multiple people say.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/20/pinterest-nearing-1-billion-in-ad-revenue-as-it-plans-to-ipo-mid-2019.html

That is a lot of cheese for a site that simply has people posting links and pictures. This far exceeds what people are saying Reddit is worth (somewhere around $2 billion). Naturally, this is based upon the revenue from advertising and their financial statements. Nevertheless, if Dlike becomes worth 1/100th of this, that would really boost the Steem blockchain.

We are consistently discussing mass adoption and what it will take. This application might be a great way for the general public to start their entry into cryptocurrency. While I would not call it a killer application, it does hold some potential.

To me, this is a great application to help people onboard into the world of wealth building. Since there will be a SMT based token, one earns them for posting (in addition to STEEM). At some point, once we have the internal exchange set up and see more growth in the industry, we will be able to use those coins for many different things. Ultimately, I foresee people not only buying goods and services with SMTs, but also investing. The world of Security Tokens holds tremendous promise for humanity.

Alas, that is down the road. For now, we are seeing the evolution of the blockchain. Applications like Dlike are what will draw people in down the road.

As always, I am very happy to be a Steemian.

Me too mate, i have said before it has so much potential and can be used in a multitude of ways and their development has been consistant without the aid of huge delegations from Steem themselves.

This is good news, though we really need to have the SMT protocol released as I think this is slowing down people staying or joining in on some of these dapps. Having thousands of tokens on some dapps that can not be accessed is very disappointing and with no known time frame I am getting reluctant to delegate more SP to these dapps. As some may have very little to no value and others maybe rather valuable. It is frustrating to no were to delegate other then dapps I use regularly. Anyone know the current progress with SMTs?

No time table given. My guess is mid year....maybe July.

Hope they give us an update soon it would helpful for a lot of dapp developers and the rest of us.

Thank you so much for participating the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!

I have yet to try this one out but will likely give it a shot soon as I think it is a great way to share news and thoughts of them. It will be interesting to see how it develops the opportunity from the Hivemind update which has more community functionality behind it.
