3 Things to think about (Conversation 2)

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Okay, moving on to the next part. Hopefully I can make this a little shorter with a few links to other people's posts. As said, I like to look at a few unrelated events and connect them up with a line of best fit. The first part was a brief look at payouts.

Convo 2: Mainstreaming

Yesterday, there were two posts that I want to point to, well, actually three now since @steemitadventure just posted another related topic.

Firstly, this one where John Macafee tweeted out a Steemit article supporting Doge Coin. Yeah, Doge Coin, but, it was a Steemit article by @loggiaonfire.

Secondly, there was this post by @trumpman about @theneedledrop, also known as Anthony Fantano, a hip-hop music reviewer on Youtube with 1.2 million subscribers.

Lastly, this post by the highly esteemed @steemitadventure on Bob's Repair, an ICO that will ride the Steemchain.

Do you know what this means and how it connects to the first post?

As you can probably recognise, Steemit and Steem are slowly but surely gaining mainstream attention which has some big implications for uptake and onboarding in the near future. With the right people announcing and quoting, a lot of eyes will be turned Steem's way.

The second part is that as Youtubers and Twitter users with significant subscribers come onboard, they will pull an increasing rate of their followers with them. Sure, the first few might not pull as many but as more join, more potential subscribers see Steemit announced in more of their feeds. Will they come? Yes. When? Soon.

The last part is about the SMTs and oracles coming and the impact they are likely to have on the Steem blockchain. Don't know what an SMT is? Here is a post from @ned that will get you on a few paths of exploration. Hopefully, the uptake on these will be fast and decisive and place Steem where it should be in the marketplace.

These posts (and related conversations) from last night all point to one thing, Steem booms. Mainstreaming is happening and the effects it will have on the Steemit/Steem ecosystems is going to be very large indeed. The people who are here now are in for quite a ride but if they think that it is all going to be smooth, think again.

This is going to lead what is essentially a start-up environment into a mature industry spotlight which means things are going to likely change considerably. Are you ready? You may think you are, but really?

Most here have not considered all of the implications of large scale uptake and figure it is going to all be beneficial for them but, it is likely to also damage some people also and potentially take away the current positions they enjoy. It is hard to say though at this point how exactly it will all pan out.

There is a lot of potential coming I think. How do you think this platform and we will act and perform when there are millions of interested and active users?

I think we are going to see some serious popularity increase on steemit this year! It's only natural, because this platform is fucking awesome and everyone simply has to start talking about how great it is. We are going to see some talented people coming in and some great content being made here. It will probably be harder to compete when it comes to content, but hopefully, we will also see steem price rise quite a lot:) I'm ready to see how it will truly turn out to be!

Part three will look at some of this :)

The change which you speak of, the one that's coming soon, to me is a little bit scary, but change is inevitable, and will have to be dealt with when it gets here

Is there a conversation 3 ?

on the way :)

ok bro thank'x

With more and more people coming to this platform post themes will diversify and that is the best part. There will be more topics you like as well as topics you dont like, but you ll have more material to read, more opinions to either acknowldge or ignore

great analysis

Millions of active daily users will be a big blessing to Steemit. Steemit will definitely move up the ladder of Alexa rank and guess what, Steem and SBD will move with it. I see Likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates having account on Steemit this year

thanks for this information, it's helpful..

The growth of steemit must be taken seriously when we least realize there could be millions of people here, I guess we should prepare for the possible changes that this would imply.
