A warm welcome to Steemit

Hello Steemians and webcrawlers alike!

I just opened my senses to the world of Cryptocurrency a couple months ago, and oh how much I have learned! I have been a long time fan of decentralization and computing. I am a soil scientist by education, but I am a network systems integration specialist by nature. I feel that the symbiotic mesh of ecology and blockchain dance the waltz in my brain. Lately I have been consumed by thinking about the possibilities of blockchains. To my pleasant surprise, I found that there were many people already pursuing some of these ideas. Solarcoin, greencoin, KWHcoin, land trust blockchains, contract agreement blockchains, land title blockchains, insurance blockchains... What can't blockchains do?

Grow Food. Computers and robots can't grow our food, nor do I want them to. I want something to do! Which is what got me thinking about basic living income. What if... We could incentivize the growing of local organic food, adding rooftop solar, using biodiesel, and paying people for it? What if we used the extra harvest surplus to create our own ovelay mesh wifi network? These are some of the things I have been dreaming into reality this last week.
