Since the Steem blockchain became a centralized, top-down dominated place, where control and censorship thrive, I have decided to move my content. Don't worry, though, all my posts and up and doing well on the decentralized Hive blockchain. Come and check it out!

Excellent well describe post, I love how you have explained showing respect for different people. Love your perspective and every human being should be respected... Thank you for sharing this great post for us.. Really learned how we respect every human whether it is admire or bravery or by expressing and showing our feelings towards them..

Thank you! The more you think about it, the more you realize the many aspects of the same thing. It's kinda like love, in a way. The love towards my parents is not the same as towards my wife, or towards my friends, or towards people I don't know. Still, there is love for all of them.

Living in a country (Thailand) where formal "respect" is mandated, I have been mulling over this question during a busy week and preparing to answer later today. I loved this: "...our self-respect also earns the respect of others, and vice versa: respecting others earns you their respect as well, which in turn strengthens your self respect. This is probably the most essential type of respect." Just YES. A big, fat yes. Lovely contribution - thank you.

@ecoTrain

I'm living in a country (Mexico) where respect and formality is also mandated. In practice, however, it is just as often disregarded, which in my opinion is even worse than saying nothing at all.
In another country I used to live (Germany) the expectations are the opposite: they don't like it if you resort to obviously empty words, such as "How are yoooou?" or "I've missed you soooo much." unless you honestly mean it. This Germanic coldness is in fact their way of expressing respect to each other.

for mere existence.. YES yes yes, i just love that last point.. couldnt agree more.. when we respect ALL life with a kind of reverence.. the world can look very different! thanks for taking part.. VERY nice post indeeed!

I couldn't top this post. It says PERFECTLY what I would need up saying... respect for EVERY human being is essential... and if we all did this, what a different place the world would be!!!

Thank you, @riverflows! I hope I didn't take away what you were going to write in your post.

No no, not sure I'll write on it as I don't have time. In the end most of us agree anyway... I either write before reading everyone else's or not at all as I always think people are far better at saying it than me!!
