15,022 Reps From 12 Steemians After 40 Days - The Steem Daily 100 Rep Fitness Challenge - 50 Push-ups & 50 Squats - Day 41

in #fitnesschallenge5 years ago (edited)

Challenge completed - 100 air squats among some other weights, and I walked for 7.1 miles... oops.

Markets are breaking down... but we can and should be building our foundation for better health here.

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."

In other words, get off your asses and improve your health right now. It's our most valuable asset.

Help us build here and yourself at the same time. It's a win-win all the way.

You can now work together to produce "team reps" to more easily get involved.

  • As long as 100 reps of a combination of push-ups and squats are done, reply on my posts with those who helped.

  • I encourage more of this so people don't feel intimidated. The goal is to be happy, proud, and healthy from this exercise and participation.

  • Uh oh... excuses are thinning!

Current charts with everyone's stats and progress:

It's not a competition between people, but it's one with ourselves to improve our health and wellness.

Day 40 Results: 200 reps from 2 Steemians for Tues EST, 9/24.

Talk is cheap. Actions matter. Thank you for being involved!

My 9/24 Reps & Feedback: 100 Squats

  • My legs surprisingly were pretty comfortable with the 100 reps and didn't bother me the next day. Hmm... progress?

  • I also did 44 bar presses and 44 bar shoulder shrugs, both using a 75 bar.

  • Dinner was 3 boneless/skinless chicken thighs that my friend cooked for me on his rooftop "Green Egg" smoker.

  • I never use supplements or any type of cheating. Just food, hydration, passion and hard work.

Today's Highlights:

  • @thevillan and @mightpossibly shared hardcore workouts that were a ton of work, but didn't technically cover the challenge. I still wanted to give them a shout out for their effort they proudly shared with the team.

What's the challenge?

50 push-ups (modified if needed) and 50 air squats. If you want to do a different ratio or split, that's fine. Just reach 100 reps from these options and reply below with an affirmation, pic, link, or video. We're on the honor system.

*Team entries are now accepted.

If you can't do all of the push-ups, I know you can do squats for the rest. Get involved!

To people new, see the kickoff post linked below. We'll be opening up to other exercise types in due time. I'm trying to keep this simple for now to get everyone assembled and on the same page.

This is for your health. Why not try to join us just once to see how it goes?

To any interested Steemians who want more info/background: *Please see this link from the kickoff post for details.

Everyone please support and encourage the team here. They're working hard to build a community the hard way. It's about the bigger picture.

Make sure you go 90 degrees with your elbows and legs, with your back straight, on each rep. Don't have your elbows too wide on the floor. Feel free to help others if they look like that can use some advice.

Again, this is just a baseline of activity for the day. This will be far from all I do on most days, and the same can go for you.

  • Markets and spirits may be down now, but our health should always be on the rise.

  • We don't always need an app and tokens for everything, or to worry about things we can't control.

  • Worry about what we can control. Let's put the human back into fitness here, and you will see and feel results.

Rep on,
@steemmatt

P.S. - Please use the fitnesschallenge tag if you can.

hey bud, I did 100 squats yesterday at the gym :)

I just caught this a minute after posting the new round, but for you, I raced to update the charts and post. Good to see your name back in the mix of former champions. Enjoy the soreness/growth and bring it again when you can. I may add shoulder presses soon. That'd help me a lot as well.

Long story short, I did 100 reps today. 50 Squats & 50 Pushups.

Oh man...I've been tired and lazy. Mostly lazy. Like really, really lazy and I've let time slip away yet again. I also got sick on Monday...hasn't been good. I think I have the flu. Coughing, sneezing, aching and fever. Just been resting, but I'm seriously trying to motivate myself. I gotta overcome my laziness. Being sick reminds me of the last time I got sick, which was last year when I was doing your first fitness challenge, and I just soldiered through. I felt like exercising helped me get better.

I actually got sick after that, come to think of it. I had already started the day job, but as extensive as those labor-workouts were, I got over it quickly. Now I'm coming on the third day and I just don't exactly feel that much better. I even slept about 20 hours yesterday (tuesday into wednesday morning). I don't have energy, but I can feel that I do have energy. Especially after 20 hours of sleep yesterday. I feel like I will toss and turn all night.

So that makes me want to bang some reps out. Heck, if I can do it feeling this crappy, it should be super easy once I feel better.

Started with 2 sets of 20 Squats / 10 Push ups with a short break to catch my breath.

1 set of 10 squats / 10 push ups.

That left me with 20 push ups to do. It was exceptionally difficult to get them done since I had nothing to do in addition. I don't enjoy doing push ups, but they do make me feel good after I've done them. 2 sets of 10.

Took me about an hour.

p.s.
Where did you walk? That's a long walk!

Exercising boosts your strength inside and out. The more you keep tuning your body, the more its defenses will work. Get over this flu now and then cure the bigger roadblock of the laziness to even do 25 reps a day until it becomes 30, then 40...then it clicks. Good job powering through your reps under terrible condition. It's a nice victory after feeling like crap for a few days.

I just walked around my city, some to look for things to resell and a bit just... hmm... I can't remember right now, ha.

So the fight just for us both :) reps done!

At least I'm not sore anymore. That first week was hard, but I'm good now.

Anymore. That first week was
Hard, but I'm good now.

Good to see you back online more often these days and that you're taking care of your health. One day, before and after shots might be cool to see.

Thank you. I'm glad to be back too. Physical activity is just fantastic, and I can't believe it took me 30 years to realize. Will definitely try to post some after pics soon.
