Raised-bed Gardening Update: the first video I'm sharing with my Steemit Family! ♥

in #raisedbed5 years ago

Good morning everyone!

I've been absent for over a week now. Where have I been, you ask? Well...

I've been making videos! To be more precise, I've been making videos and trying to overcome the learning curve that comes along with it... filming, speaking, video and sound editing... It's a lot to take in!

My last post was an update to our raised-bed garden, (the first of several, hopefully!), and talking about how Steem can power your garden! Fun stuff!

Well, I admit, I AM a little embarrassed to show my video attempts so far, but I figured an appropriate beginning would be another update on the raised bed!

So, here we are, without further ado, my Raised Bed Update Video! Featuring my buddy and partner, @SnekLady!

She loves being on video, and loves helping out!

Hopefully this attaches correctly and everyone can watch!

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what you think!

I can already see lots of things I can do to improve, but I am learning and figuring this out as I go. Any tips you want to throw my way would be appreciated!

Nice raised bed for sure, and good use of the space inside of the blocks. Pineberries sound great, but I killed mine. Hopefully I'll try again in the future. Glad to see those Mustard Greens doing great already!

Thanks!
I'm excited, and can't wait to get more raised beds made! I've got a list of things I want to grow this year!

Generally speaking, I don't have the patience to sit through a video, but I wanted to see yours after all the work you put into it! Congrats on figuring out how! I have yet to try to do a video. Your little garden is coming along nicely. We don't have fire ants where we live, but we certainly have other garden pests. There's always something to keep us on our toes!

Thanks so much for looking!
I agree, I prefer to read and look at nice photos than watch videos, but more and more, people are leaning toward videos, and I think it behooves me to make an effort.
The learning curve is steep, but Im making progress, I think. ;)
Fire ants are AWFUL here, an invasive pest for sure. We have the normal things too, aphids, whitefly, and the like, but these darn ants are the worst!

The video works fine for me, at least once I remember to turn my speakers on. We have fresh snow in the northwest, and no new plants are to be anticipated for at least 3 months even for indoor starts in my microclimate.

Thanks for checking it out!
Ugh! I feel your pain! That is one thing I dont particularly miss about living up north, having to wait SO long to start gardening!

If you really want to go all-out on video production, the simplest changes I would suggest are using a dedicated digital camera in 1080P, and adding a lavalier microphone instead of relying on the built-in camera mic. Even a fairly cheap external microphone will probably improve audio quality significantly. The only downside there is difficulty recording your kiddo as well.

Thanks!! I appreciate the tips!~
Ill look into those and read up on how to use them and all that. My knowledge of videoing is nil, and, not that I want to go all out or anything, but I would like to make nicer quality videos.

Www.creamyradioaudio.com is geared more toward podcasters and not toward video lroduction, but it has good microphone info. The author is, shall we say, opinionated.

Haha thanks, Ill check it out!

I need to hit that curve soon too:)

Haha its tricky but Im making progress!
The future is videos, I think. More and more, people are doing videos, and if you get popular enough, you can even make money from it, so win win!

Great to see the video of how the garden is doing great work :)

Great start to both the bed and vlogging. You are absolutely right on the fire ants, they will screw up the plants and any skin that comes in contact with them too.
Your little helper is a natural when it comes to being around a camera, not camera shy at all is she.

Thanks for checking it out! Some things about video editing and uploading are tricky for me, but I feellike Im making progress...
I love my helper, haha! She thoroughly enjoys being on camera, and loves to help me out. And I find it is easier to make a video with someone else to talk to, so you dont feel like a crazy person talking to yourself, haha!

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!
