Hello steemians, it's a beautiful day and I'm glad to move forward as I perform my achievement 3 task which talks about creating legitimate content, content etiquette and plagiarism.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Generally, plagiarism has to do with extracting, copying, lifting, posting someone else' content, information, research or art without giving appropriate credit to the original owner such that it looks as though the content originated from the plagiarist.

WHAT CAN USERS POST ON STEEMIT?

Steem is an online platform which welcomes and hold any legal content that aligns with its terms of service and as such, account holders can post or share anything they desire to ranging from
photos, videos, activities or events, stories, blogs, poetry works, articles, creative arts or songs as long as he/she thinks it will add value by informing, educating or bringing pleasure to anyone who visits the site or reads the post.

THE 'PROOF OF BRAIN' OR BRAIN WORK CONCEPT

As we all know steem uses Blockchain rewarding system which enables users to earn tokens from their posts as long as they're creating contents that are credible and original. Steem encourages use of brain to put up contents and appropriate citation given if information is gotten from another source.
It is recommended in Steem that any information that is not an original work from the content creator be duly recognized.

WHY DO WE AS STEEM USERS NEED TO CITE SOURCE OF INFORMATION?

This is imperative because it clears any doubt of authenticity and gives a link on to how valuable you regard ethics and etiquettes. Any information gotten from another work into your post makes your content not to be original because it is not totally your brain work and not citing or recognizing the one who owns the content you're extracting the information from even though it is a definition of words or a line of sentence makes you a plagiarist because you are trying to take credit for someone else' research.

CITATION

It is recommended on steemit that links or sources be posted alongside the post and if there were more than one,ball such should be added wherever they are applied. Also, every copied and pasted sentences should either be in quote "" or formatted using the markup <>

Michael said daily intake of apple is the safest route to staying healthy

Every paraphrased paragraph, sentence or idea ought to have its reference close to it to indicate the original source thereby giving credibility to the post.

Linked sources are to take you to the original information and how it is presented. Citing sources in this manner adds credibility and value to your blog and the reader and any reader who finds your work interesting can simply click on the source which will take them to the original post for them to learn more thereby preventing plagiarism and makes it professional. Same rule applies if you have the intention of adding images or videos that are not yours.
