Exploring West Wales - By the Coast
There are not many places in the world that I feel a real affinity with. I think it takes something deeper than just liking the culture or the food, there has to be something spiritual that resides deep within you. It's probably obvious from my blog that I've always felt a strong pull towards Japan, even when I was younger the traditional culture of Japan inspired me to explore more in the worlds of art and design and in the future informed my day to day work that I now pursue. I'm even lucky enough to visit a few times a year and explore the culture in more detail.
But today is about a small coastal village called Aberporth that resides just by the beach on the west coast of Wales. Living in the UK it was a tradition every year to visit a family member who retired here and has a beach house overlooking one of the beaches in this area. I guess these connections from when I was a child run deep and this area of Wales really fascinates me, partly due to the beautiful nature and it being fairly untouched, but there's also something peaceful about being next to the sea and the fresh air.
This series of photos were all taken on my film camera and I liked how some of them came out, especially the grain and colour that came through. Film photography is special in that way. I have been experimenting heavily with abstraction through photography lately and I am currently creating a series with this concept in mind. These then are on a similar wavelength. I hope you like some of these coastal photos and I will be sure to post more from this area in the future.

Love the pics... Looks and feels so much more real than digital.
Thanks for sharing :-)
Beautiful photos! Film isn't very common these days. Are you developing them yourself?
Thanks for your comment. I don't develop them myself anymore, although I did used to a while back. I just send them off online and they scan them for me.
