Introducing nonio! Tech nomad and travel enthusiast..

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Dear steemians.....

First of all a short introduction about myself. My name is nonio (Rose) and I recently found out about steemit.com. The last years I have travelled extensively and would like to share the wonderful experiences I had with the rest of the community...I was lucky to make a living out of my hobby. This is my way of showing gratitude for all of the beautiful things I have encountered.

I hope you will enjoy my stories, it is written to inspire others to travel...and please, don't shoot the noob! I have to do some homework on steemit.com/powering up/steem/steempower/voting etc. etc...;)

I would like to start with a short story/tips about Bali; Bali will always have a special place in my heart. It's the place where the ashes of my grandparents are buried.

#1 Bali is The Island of the Gods!

Canngu.jpg

Canggu, a village on the west side of South Bali has significantly risen the last 2 years but still feels like authentic Bali. In Canggu you will find vast rice fields and there is no mass tourism (yet). Canggu is also called the "hipster town", partly due to the fact that there are lots of boutiques and eateries that are decorated with vintage items such as wood, tropical accessories with palm trees, pineapples and positive quotes. In Canggu you'll find beautiful murals with quotes and lots of bright colors about everyday things on almost every street corner.

#2 Start your day with a Bali breakky!
If there is anything you can do well on Bali, then it's having breakfast! There is a huge amount of choice when it comes to a nice breakfast. In Canggu you can indulge yourself with a healthy, varied and "photo worthy 'breakfast. The delicious tropical fruit creates a colored party on your plate; dragon fruit, banana, coconut and granola to lick your fingers literally! My favorite spots are Shady Shack, Canteen, Crate, Milk & Madu, Nalu Bowls, Betelnut, PokePoke, Little Flinders, Deus and Avocado. In each of these restaurants you can not go wrong when you choose a fruit bowl, french toast, pancake or breakfast wrap. At night you look forward to breakfast the next day!Breakky.jpg

#3 Good vibes happen on the tides!
Bali is known to many for its surfing. Each piece of coast has different waves and attracts different types of surfers. Canggu is known for its surfers beach and the scooters with the surfboards attached to it. Some surfers start at 6 o'clock in the morning just to see the sun rise while they catch the first waves. At this hour you will only share the waves with a few other early birds. Along the beach you will find surfboards for rent and the possibility to book a lesson with a surfing instructor to teach you the tricks of the trade.
Old Mans beach is the perfect place for beginners but Seminyak beach is also a good place to start. At the beach next to Old Mans beach, Echo Beach, the waves are different and therefore more suitable for experienced surfers. To watch the pros ride the waves you should visit Uluwatu.
@ Balibelly you will find inspiring stories and photos of surfers in Bali.
Prefer paddle boarding? @ Padang Padang you will hire a paddleboard for a bargain.

#4 Hidden beach
At Canggu and the rest of the coastline you can enjoy a beach bed, umbrella and coconut or just a cold Bintang (beer) to quench your thirst. Between Old Mans beach and Echo beach you'll find a hidden spot to sunbathe; its called 'The Lawn'. This place is not hard to find yet few people will visit this beautiful piece of nature. There are cushions, beanbags, rugs, beds and hammocks where you can spend the day. There is an old school bus that sells chilled coconuts, sodas, water and beer. Swings at the edge of the beach makes this picture complete..!!

#5 Join a Yoga class
Bali is a spiritual island where many people find peace through the vibe, faith, people and nature. Yoga is a big part of this. Ubud is the hot spot for yoga, you can even take part in retreats of a week or more. In Canggu you will find Samadi. Samadi providess yoga classes at different levels and styles including Hatha, Ashtanga and Yoga for Surfers. They also organize various individual activities such as movie nights, retreats and workshops. Furthermore they provide organic and delicious healthy food at their restaurant in the garden.!Yoga.jpg

#6 Visit the organic market
Every Sunday between 9 am and 2 pm there is an organic market in front of Samadi. By visiting this market you support the locals with their organic farming and it’s just fun to visit. The atmosphere is great; music is played on the streets and the Balinese locals with their warm smiles make it a true happening.

#7 Eat @ Warung Bu Mi
A warung is a family restaurant where you can eat delicious foods and it is cheap!. Usually you will pay around 3$ for a plate full of delicious Indonesian fish, meat or tempeh, vegetables and yellow, red or white rice.
