I had never thought of myself as someone who would collect anything in life, much less silver to be honest, but life has a funny way of working itself out. I just started stacking less than 1 year ago in 2017 so I am not as hard core as most people who post in #steemsilvergold, but I love silver nonetheless. I love holding it in my hands, it feels like real money unlike fiat (although it's really not as spendable right now), however it feels intrinsic unlike paper.
The words for 'silver' and 'money' are the same in fourteen languages or more.
My journey to silver was an odd one to say the least, it actually started with cryptos believe it or not. It actually started when I found steemit which was 6 months after finding cryptos. I read the steemit white paper and knew that it was something I wanted to be a part of. Rewarding the writers for their work instead of rewarding the platforms like facebook or youtube was brilliant to me. How could people not want to be part of that?!
Little did I know how my time on steemit would go. When I started steemit I thought my profile would be all about truth and health, turns out I was way off. I'm sure many of you went through the same process of figuring out your niche and where you belong on steemit, it has a way of showing you your true colors. While trying to find my place in steemit I stumbled upon the tag #steemsilvergold where I met a great group of people on steemit who really sparked my interest in precious metals.
When I started steemit I was just leaving the "real" stock market and dumping all my money into the crypto market instead. The more digging I did to find the truth about stocks and bonds, the more problems I saw with our (and the worlds) financial system. I saw so much manipulation on precious metals it mad me sick! After a ton of research i realized how everything I thought about the market was a lie, precious metals have been crucified (for lack of a better word) for as far back as I could research. There was obviously a reason why they suppressed it so much.
I knew I couldn't be part of a system that was so messed up and decided I needed to find an alternative to the manipulated system and that's how cryptos and ultimately silver came into my life. It seemed like cryptos were a good place to invest some money since I lost faith in the monetary system.

After some research I realized that silver has some amazing unique qualities and I think in the near future that silver could possibly be worth way more for its properties than money. It seemed in times of financial disruption that silver always shined so I decided to buy it as a hedge against the system. Most people don't realize how amazing silver is. I personally don't think silver will ever be as valuable as money ever again, but it will be worth a lot of money for some of its other properties.
A few cool facts about silver
silver is the best electric conductor of the elements. It is used as the standard by which other conductors are measured. On a scale of 0 to 100, silver ranks 100 in terms of electrical conductivity. Copper ranks 97 and gold ranks 76.
An ounce of silver can be drawn into a wire 8,000 feet long.
A single grain of silver (~65 mg) can be pressed into a sheet 150 times thinner than the average sheet of paper.
Silver is the best thermal conductor of any metal. The lines you see in the rear window of a car consist of silver, used to defrost ice in the winter.
I believe in the future silver may be needed for technology more than money and I'll be HODLing it until that day. I know most people think I am crazy but I feel that I can see things most people can't and I am betting on silver really taking off in the future. I might just be a crazy hippie, or I might be brilliant, all I know is I will be stacking for the foreseeable future.

I agree with you assessment, as technical analysis was something that you could use to gauge stocks and make trades. But technical analysis has not worked since after the 2000 crash, and much worse after 2008. A rigged market, and everyone should use this time to dollar cost average your PM purchases and getting ready for the FIAT to collapse, and our time to see the greatest wealth transfer in history.......Go get ya some
Great write up on silver and some of it's properties. I learned a few things I didn't know and that is always a bonus!
I have always been fascinated by precious metals but just never took the time or effort to educate myself and begin collecting. I have a couple of very small silver bars and one that is copper.

Right now they are in the process on voting on the new design for 2018. They are littered all over the #steemsilvergold tag. @silverstackeruk usually posts about it quite a bit and I think @philiment is actually in charge of it all.. here is the post with the new ideas for the 2018 steemit silver round but I think voting has now ended. but its never to late to join the discussions and the group if you like precious metals ;)
