She read the waiting email, curious to see what the response was to her application. Or whatever it was, she still hadn't come to a firm conclusion on that score.
It simply read
“..You have passed the first part of the application.
You were placed last in the applications received on the day of your response.
Please use the 'allowed' number that we have given you.
Please contact as many of the testimonial participants as you wish.
This will be seen as a positive step in the next part of your application process.
When you are satisfied of the information provided by our participants in the testimonial program, please contact us to ask for an appointment time.
If the position has not already been filled by this time, we will arrange a date for you to visit us.
If the position has been filled, please fee free to apply once more, when another position becomes vacant.
You may find out if there are any positions vacant in the future, by visiting our website.
You are now allowed to contact other participants.
you allowed number is S1299.
Your allowed number will expire in 14 days.
She re-read the short email once more, to make sure that she understood it correctly.
'last place!, uh?' She said indignantly to herself.
She never came last place in anything. Last!
'pffft.', She thought. 'Never mind,I have access to the next stage. I can find more about what this really is.'
She went onto the website, clicked through to the the testimonial page, and entered the numbers she'd been given.
A page loaded.

125 pages of testimonials? This was very strange.
As she looked down the participants who gave testimonials she noticed that they all had photo's in their profiles.
And all with an email address to contact them.
The email addresses were generic emails, and nothing to do with the website as such.
She also noticed that all interactions must be connected with an active webcam at all times during interactions
There will be both written and verbal communications, depending on the wishes of the enquirer, to ensure authentic communications.
Her brow furrowed, yet again trying to work out the why.
Her initial thought that came to mind was that it was some kind of dodgy webcam service, but she soon dismissed that.
She knew about those kind of cam sites, and this in no way came across like that.
'At least you know who you are talking to, I suppose' She thought. She was in new territory here, and she felt it.
This was unusual for Amy when it came to websites.
Unknown in fact, for the last few years.
It seemed less dodgy by the minute. She was expecting the opposite.
Total transparency seemed to be the ethos on this website, not lack of.
"OK, Amy" , She said to herself, taking a deep breath, "Let's start making some contacts."
She looked at the profiles staring back at her, trying to decide which ones first...she felt, quite inexplicably, that she was somehow entering some new strange world.
A world in which she had no idea what was waiting for her..
