Jeronimo trying to Inspire the World- Part #36 "Peer Pressure... Just Say NO"

Hello Steemians and Dtubians,

Happy Weekend everyone!!! Well, today started out great as always. I always enjoy my days off from work until the day where I can earn a living from home and enjoy every day at home with my family. Well, today I went for a walk as I always do every day. I usually park my truck when I get home and walk everywhere to stay in better shape and get the blood flowing and the cardio going. So I walk to the local CVS Pharmacy to withdraw some money from the ATM, get a couple of drinks and then go an renew my insurance at AAA motor club.

I went inside and one of my friends who works there was on duty today. He was on a website checking out what he called "The Spread" on the "World Cup" (#worldcup) and looking into placing a bet online from his phone. He tried to interest me into doing the same but I don't gamble at all. Not in that way. I have much more important things to do than gamble my money away on sporting events. But he was being pretty persistent saying that it is an easy way to make money. That is is fun and exciting and I would have a blast. I still insisted that I was interested but he continued to try to pressure me into gambling. But I am very strong in my belief system and said "No Thank you" politely.

Peer pressure is very difficult to deal with especially when we consider these people good friends. But let me begin by saying this. A "True Friend" will respect your decision to not want to participate in whatever they are doing no matter what it may be. A "True Friend" will never try to convince you that you should do something that makes you uncomfortable and takes you way out of your comfort zone. A true friend will continue to be your friend no matter what you decide always.

So I just want to give a few friendly tips on how to avoid or overcome peer pressure or extreme peer pressure all the time.

1. Surround yourself with people who are more like you. Have the same morals and ethics likes and dislikes in the most part. Change or new experiences is always a good thing but only if you are comfortable.

2. Say "NO" and mean it. Always keep strong in your belief system. Stay firm on your decisions always and always have faith in yourself for the decisions you make.

3. Repeat yourself often when needed. If your friends are persistent, and they usually are. Repeat yourself often to remind them of where you stand on the subject. Stay strong.

4. Walk away. If you feel that the pressure is too much. Then you can always make your exit in a polite and respectful manner. It is always better to politely excuse yourself than to "Give In" to the pressure.

5. Back up your NO with an explanation. Try to explain why you do not want to participate in what they are trying to get you to do. Explain your reasoning for your decision. Again, if they insist on putting you under pressure, then leave.

6. "Everybody is doing it". Don't fall for this line because you know in your mind and heart that it isn't true.

I always say thank you to my Beautiful Fiance @vanjaavedal, our two children David and Angeles and all of our family in Norway, Thailand, Mexico and the United States for all the love and support they give me every day. I love all of you with all my heart.
