Achievement 3 by @jeffyt Task: Content Etiquette.

in Newcomers' Community4 years ago

Hello everyone, Greetings to you all.
Today, I'll be completing my achievement 3 task. Actually, this is a task I would have completed last week, but sorry to say that I was so busy that I barely had time for myself. So I beg you people to try and understand.

Today, I'll be talking on what plagiarism is all about. But before I do that, let me start by telling you what this platform etiquettes are.

However, steem is a platform where users are allowed to post anything they like. It could be memes, videos, songs, articles and more. But it should be a legal content that complies with the terms and conditions of the platform. Also, steemit is a blockchain based website whereby the users are rewarded a cryptocurrency known as STEEM for posting original content from your brain. Which means copied content isn't allowed here except you give a citation source to any content you copied. We steemit users need to cite the sources we copied out content from to show the originality of our content. Any content that is copied from another source without permission or citation is known to be a plagiarized content. Now, what is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. Source
It's very bad in the sense that when it's discovered, your reputation might be damaged. So in order to avoid plagiarism, you need to cite all your works that you copied from other sources. Every work that is copied needs to be covered with quotation marks or formatted with a mark-up >.
One of the reason why copied content should be cited is for the reader to click on the source to read and learn more. and that makes your content look original and not plagiarized, and also make you blog look professional.
Another thing your should note is when an image is copied from other sources, you need to add a linked source to that image. These are the way you can avoid plagiarism and avoid having a bad reputation.

Finally, I'd like to tell all the members in this platform to avoid plagiarism. Don't think people won't know when you steal other people's work. So it'll be better to stop plagiarism to avoid damaging the reputation you spent lots of time to build.
So I'd like to say thank you to @cryptokannon and my mentor @focusnow for the guidelines that helped me in completing this task.

Thank you all for reading.
