Halloween Report

At my library, we dress up for Halloween and hand out candy during our regular hours. My costume for this year was a simple one. I used this old pocket watch and Burlington Northern cap as part of an engineer outfit. Overalls, a plaid shirt, and a neckerchief completed the ensemble. For a while, I also wore my old steampunk goggles for some added flair

The watch still works. I had to make myself a watch chain though, so I used some loose necklace chain from my jewelry making supplies, added a hefty swivel clasp from my scrap bin, and added a smaller lobster claw clasp to the other end so I could form a loop in the chain to hook to things such as buttonholes or belt loops.

Much fun was had at the expense of the candy-hounding kids.

Kid: "Can I have some candy?"
Me: "What's the magic word?"
Kid: "Please?"
Me: "Not today! Nice try."
Kid: "I mean, trick-or-treat!"
Me: "OK. Here you go."

When I was not near the candy basket, I would say, "Sorry, I'm the wrong librarian," or if they had no costume on, I would demand candy from them.

I think next year I will be a lumberjack. Axes and chainsaws are out of the question, but I wonder if I can get away with openly carrying a real hatchet into work. Hmmm...

Sort:

Next year you can sing "I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK...". That's better than "I've been working on the railroad..."

I sleep all night and I work all day...

We are at our library constantly because of homeschooling and needing lots of books. I always wonder if the librarians are putting on a show when acting like it is fun to dress up every day the week before Halloween. I suppose it will be obvious if the costumes get less and less child appropriate as the week rolls on. :)

We only dressed up on Halloween, so it wasn't too bad.

He have a LOT of homeschoolers in the library here.

I love the steampunk goggles...

So, is open carry of hatchets still legal? ;)

Cali was an open carry state up until a few years ago...

😄😇😉

@creatr

Concealed carry is legal everywhere if you can avoid getting caught.

LOL!

So is everything... ;)

Sounds like you had a good time at work that day.

It wasn't awful, anyway!
