Why The So Called „Political Correctness“ is Too Political and ...SO SO SO SO SO.....ANYTHING BUT CORRECT!

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

Political correctness is more so a code of conduct when speaking to others. It is a code in which one must bleach out what they truly think and relay only a part of the message. Substituting words, giving examples and too often avoiding the cold hard ruthless truth.

Political correctness is defective, namely because it doesn’t communicate the thoughts/ideas/messages that are intended, it avoids them and in a way sweeps issues under the mat/rug.

Political correctness doesn’t change the people we are, it doesn’t change our thoughts.

Just because we are thinking one thing and then say another so as to avoid using the word that we are thinking does not make us better people. It does not help the message get across, it does not express the true nature of the issues being discussed.

What we need to do is to use the words that we are thinking, the words that truly and thoroughly express the essence and nature of the message that we are trying to get across to our audiences.

Naturally, one must excuse oneself if using words that could be offensive, not for the fact that one is using those words, but for the truthful and sincere nature by which it is made known that there is no intention to offend anyone. Only this way can the stereotypes of “racists, sexists and God only knows what all “a to z phobes” out there be eliminated and all terms be used in a proactive and positive manner. Likewise those using them inappropriately can be easily put in their rightful place and category.

Basically there is no person on this earth that has no “bias”. Every single person on this earth has had and has some sort of bias, whether it be family, friends or work colleagues. So there should be no reason to not express these biases in an open an sincere manner, so that everyone can appreciate your openness and honesty.

Political correctness = HIDING THE TRUTH. MASKING THE TRUTH.

There is room for politeness, there is room for people to openly announce a word or term that could be offensive and that it is being used to express a point for the right reasons. So avoiding terms that are “politically incorrect” today is not politically incorrect if one ensures that the message being relayed is for good and noble reasons/causes.

Showing respect is in fact telling the truth, saying it as it is and not avoiding the topics or terms that under “political correctness” should be hidden or wrapped up in gift wrapping paper.

Why avoid the truth, why avoid being up front, sincere and honest about everything?

Why avoid using the terms that truly express what one has to say, terms that wholeheartedly relay the message?

I dare say that “political correctness” was invented by the politicians so that they may hide their true nature, so that they may pretend to be something that they in reality are not.

No other rational or logical reason comes to mind.

THINK ABOUT IT!

My conclusion is that this so called "political correctness" is a load of bullsh#t!

Sort:

According to Bill Nye you're just ignoring the science of feelings. That guys an idiot. I grew up watching him and now I hate everything he stands for.

BOO HOO to all those that can not handle a person who doesn't gift wrap everything she/he says.

I meant Bill Nye is an idiot. I need to get better at sarcasm through rhe internet. I agree with you bud

Ohhh well... & there I was ready for a full on debate!

Next time use this visual aid for people like me:

Upvote for Bill Nye being a dumbass.

ME2, bud!... BUT, I will add - CORRUPT/ BOUGHT, and dirty! It is a total shame that Saudi Arabia is allowed to fund U.K Schools ( where St. Georges Day celebrationsAREnow banned!!! Is Saudi Arabia not the WORST violators of human rights on the entire surface ofTHIS PLANET`? Why have the UK GOV sold us out???

I believe that money is obviously worth more to some people than their very own being.

Only if they have been BRAINWASHED, dude! The world (pre/ in 2017) CANNOT function/ work like that, dude!

I agree, and we shall pay the price for our ignorance.

"Ignorance"
Another term that has been killed by the same people who are now killing the original idea of political correctness.

im agree with u dude
government just brainwash the citizen and foolish the society
they just use us to be a slave of them
I am a nepali and i know pretty well about dirty politics strategy
bro they just use us and they already made us blind in visual

Feminism+Multiculturalism+Genderism= Political correctness.
If you dare say something slightly against the above, the fight begins, even if you're stating the absolut truth with lots of proof

I don't necessarily agree with your equation, but I do agree that there are many groups of people out there who have abused the term "political correctness" and obscured it more so than what the term "Human Rights" has been abused and obscured to date.

I feel like a 14 year old girl today, think I will hit the showers at the junior high. No, I'm not a 36 year old man...hate speech

People don't say what they think because they are scared, think it may be rude or hurt someone's feelings. I am a very blunt person and honestly if my thoughts or opinions bother you then tough sh*t. I would rather a person tell me a truth that bothers me than be patted on the back and lied to. Just my view on it.

Where are ur constructive opinions, dwhntx? Do u not c the PATTERN, dude? I guess i havent lived ur life/ watched ur favs, and u havent lived my life or watched my favs? Are we so different???... We do have to start THINKING more clearly, before engaging?... ME and you, both! Xx

I have no problem engaging or holding productive dialogue. I do have a problem with people that double speak or use PC as a weapon to silence others. My post just said that I am blunt, it didn't say I don't care.

I agree to a certain degree. The extreme ways societies go nowadays to modify the language they speak to match the 'local correct standard' is sometimes absurd (coloured instead of black).

And I even dare to say that in some environments it even bothers me. Like at work, where in certain societies workmates expect your e-mails to start with a 'Hello, how are you? How was the weekend? Is Mike feeling better?... ... ...' - Where all I want is a specific report.

However, that being said I realize that many times we actually have the ability to change the way we say certain things as they could trully offend someone for free. And by that, I mean the following example I heard a few days ago:

"I have been working like a black cottonpicker"

This was actually in Spanish, and actually a common phrase in Spain. But I feel that there is absolutely no need to make that kind of remark which has a pretty recent history. This is an example where I find that even I, every now and then realize I say things that could offend and I have no trouble saying differently without altering the way we are or speak as fortunatelly, we all have a wide variety of vocabulary and sayings we use frequently so it takes little effort to opt for the ones with no offense result.

And of course, people shouldn't get offended that easily, but I like to try to avoid causing it where I can without changing who I am where possible.

I think that you are surrounded with modern day Nazis. You will be suffering from some form of PTSD because of all the fact that you can not just speak your mind without having to weigh each and every word.

Why wouldn't one say that some people still treat Americans of African descent as if we were living in a a day and age where the term "Niggers" is acceptable. Did I offend anyone in saying the "N" word?

Hell no..... in fact I EXPRESSED THE POINT PERFECTLY!

So who in fact benefits from political correctness?

Those people who are in politics, as they can use this somewhat totalitarian approach to discredit anyone who tells the truth.

As far as manners and showing respect goes, there is no need for political correctness.

Good manners and mutual respect is one of the key foundations to western morals and societies in the 21st century.

Good manners and mutual respect is one of the key foundations to western morals and societies in the 21st century

I agree completelly. Unfortunatelly some people don't know how to yet but I hope we can teach without forcing a way of speach that is based on fear.

The thing about the whole 'Nigger' word, is that in certain societies it was used as a derrogatory term which turns it into an insult more than a descriptive word. For example, in Spain it is perfectly fine to say the word 'Paki', no one gets offended even if you use it incorrectly. However, in Britain it is one of the worst words you can use to describe anyone of Pakistanian descendant, the reason being that there is a history behind that word thay means that in certain societies it is converted into an insult or derrogatory description more than just a adjective of origin.

And it is my believe that in these cases, like you mention, with respect and manners these matters will eventually pass and will br a thing of the past.

That being said, I've seen the way people talk like walking on eggshells which is utterly mad. In Britain I've seen it to such extreme that it does indeed affect on political levels where people attack each other for an incorrect use of words where neither party was affected by it (and whoever should be, normally wouldn't be affected anyway). Mad
