Tips On How To Manage The Flow Of Information

in Project HOPE2 years ago

Hello Everyone

Continous study and research of one's field or industry helps to maintain the price tag and go with the demand increase. Everyday thousands of companies and industries study about their products by analyzing large amount of data which help them run business efficiently. In addition to the work, it is important to keep your personal life separate like friends, family, hobbies, likes and dislikes, reading books, exercise etc.

According to a psychology study, having excessive amount of data will lead you to stress and anxiety that will result in exhaustion and a nervous breakdown. But don't worry in this publication, I will share some tips and exercises that will help you focus on right information and not to overburden yourself.

1. Information Tunnel

It is an important point to make a goal for your information. You must know what data you are searching and why you need it. You can specify it by adding texts, audios, or even videos. Let's have an example, if we are writing an article or a column, then we should first create a text plan which includes our thoughts and main points on a plain paper. It helps us know what knowledge we have and what we need to find. It also helps us fast-checking and know the references to authoritative publications or reports needed.

After you have all thoughts and points written on a paper, now you don't need to find those points which you already know and only need to focus on the missing ones that will take less time than before.

2. Your Needs

Second point is to know how important this information is for me. Such question will help to emerge from the maelstrom of unncessary information, as well as escape from doomscrolling. If you are watching useless or not directly relevant news to your affairs, then you are wasting your time as well as attention resources. So question yourself, whether this information is helpful and important to you or not.

3. Benefit Scale

It is not important that you study all content to understand whether it is useful for you or not. You can get idea of the content just by reading the title, the first and last paragraph, or the annotation. Moreover, if you have to watch a movie, you can watch two-minutes trailer that is enough to give you idea about complete movie. If you get the required data or information in the passages, just skim through the material. Most of the reviewed sources does not guarantee that each sentence will have new detail.

4. Personal Vault

Sometimes while searching for the information, you come across some interesting data that might be needed in the future. It's unproductive to focus on that data and left the thing you are finding. But it is also not good to just leave that information because that information might be useful in future. So the best solution is to collect the information in a personal repository. You can either create a table where you enter name of material, characteristics, links etc. You can also put note on it that tells why you saved it.

In the future, when you are working on a new task that is related to that saved information, you can find the data in your personal repository and you don't need to waste time in doing research on it.

Lovely write-up friend, I will say benefit scale is very important, there is a lot of information on the internet even popping up on our screens as a form of notification without necessarily requesting it, but when we are able to understand benefit scale, our time will be saved and preserved to do other things.
