ENS: Ethereum Name Service NFT Collection : The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a decentralized naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain, designed to resolve human-readable domain names to cryptocurrency addresses and other machine-readable identifiers. ENS functions similarly to the conventional Domain Name System (DNS) used in centralized websites. The project is governed by a decentralized autonomous organization, with decision-making facilitated through the ENS token.

Now I will try to tell some history of ENS: Ethereum Name Service NFT collection: ENS was initiated by Nick Johnson and Alex Van de Sande of the Ethereum Foundation in early 2017. The origins of ENS can be traced back to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin's 2013 whitepaper. The first documented attempt at developing ENS is found in EIP-137, authored by Nick Johnson in April 2016. Nick Johnson is recognized as the founder of ENS.

ENS was officially launched on May 4, 2017, following Johnson's proposed specification in EIP-137. The Ethereum Foundation granted Johnson USD $1M to continue ENS development. Since its launch, ENS has expanded its functionality to support decentralized applications based on distributed file stores like IPFS and Swarm. The project initially offered domain names with a minimum of seven characters, but later introduced shorter 3-6 character domains.
