How not to Steem & a good use for flags

As we all should know, Steem is a place to share original content with in the hope that our followers will upvote it. My attention was drawn to @zua last week when he flat out plagiarised one of my posts, no doubt attracted to the pending payout.

Naturally, I flagged his post and checked the rest of his blog. This is a small sample of the posts he has plagiarised:

@stephenkendal https://steemit.com/investors-group/@stephenkendal/congratulations-to-all-those-that-picked-up-on-the-recent-dmamapping-alert-for-rise-at-usd0-362382-current-price-usd1-39-remains

@nenio https://steemit.com/colourfultography/@nenio/eczrk-colourful-photography-sweets-candies

@adsactly https://steemit.com/technology/@adsactly/adsactly-tech-news-fringe-science-replacements-for-procreation-and-death

@quinneaker https://steemit.com/openmic/@quinneaker/steemit-open-mic-night-week-65-a-christmas-time-special-a-capella-as-i-give-you-my-first-ever-video-recorded-song-i-sing-oh

Speaking of @quinneaker, @zua uses one of his GIFs on his posts, such as in this one:

which is copied from

@stan's https://steemit.com/bitshares/@stan/evander-holyfield-joins-bitshares-billion-hero-challenge

It seemed that @zua was slowly getting the message last week that his actions were frowned upon by the community, as he posted the following 'apology'.

Unfortunately, that was short lived and he has carried right on copying posts and posting photos found online without source and attribution. Since having my post copied, I have kept tabs on his account and I get notifications as soon as he posts. I check his posts and as soon as I see they are copied or contain copyright material without source, I flag them.

If you want to get along on Steem, don't be like @zua. Share original content and if you use a photograph found elsewhere, give the sources.

What a cheeky bastard!
You flag his arse off Muxxy. Some morons only ever learn the hard way.
He wasn't even smart enough to change the dates and number of followers to reflect his own stats.
What a dumbass!

I love Steemit because if you grow dubiously, you can be sure you will come ground crashing. It is a matter of time. Better to do the right thing and grow with peace of mind. Long live Steemit.

Indeed. Do it right the first time, don't try to cheat your way up.

The original @GMuxx, accept no substitutes!
100% upvote to help support this flagging habit of yours :)

Keep it REAL people!! Thanks for this article @gmuxx!!

I cannot believe first that people do that and then he did it again and keeps on doing it after being flagged and writing an apology people like this should be kicked out, the nerve!!

This is a great reason to flag. I think there has been too much focus on "overvalued" posts somewhat. I think overvalued posts deserve some attention, but blatant abusers and copywriters should be the focus on the platform at this point.

fucking bollocks. i hate lazy people. i hate plagiarists too...but they're all usually fucking lazy :P

I'm in total agreement with you.

Lazy users :(

I like that his rep was 37 in the screenshot snippet you posted...but is at 10 now. That's how proper and appropriate flagging works.

I do agree we shouldn’t repost someone else’s work UNLESS , you have permission and state that it is not your own creation.
Not sure if anyone feels the same way but it is wrong to post someone else’s work as your own,
I have put out post that I referred to another website or another persons post via a webpage link to it, and pictures from freepics, but I totally agree don’t just try to post something someone else did and try to take any credit.
