Hays Galleria Roof
I chose this photograph of Hays Galleria to enter into the architectural photography contest, because of the beautiful roof. I didn't win with it however. 😢
The building stands on the south bank of the River Thames in the London Borough of Southwark.
Nowadays, Hays Galleria has a number of uses including offices, restaurants, shops, and flats but it used to be a working dock.

The Galleria is named after its original owner, a merchant called Alexander Hay, who bought the property in 1651.
It was a brewhouse at the time but he converted it into a wharf and at its peak, 80% of the dry produce imported into London passed through here.
It closed down in 1970 when the shipping industry started using container shipping which required deeper water ports.
It was redeveloped in the 1980s.

Ah nice memories, I used to work next to the Hays Galleria
that must have been a nice place to work @livinguktaiwan. At least once you got there. I wouldn't fancy the commute much. 😊
