Bantry Bay Sunset
Sculpture at Sunset in Bantry Bay
I took this photograph on the Railway Pier in Bantry Bay, Ireland.
The pier opened in 1909, having been built to provide a link from the Cork to Bantry railway line and the steamer service to the Beara peninsula.
The piece of art is called the "Odyssey" Sculpture, and was created by Barry Linnane. It was erected in 2014.
The artist's intention was to reflect the illusive beauty of West Cork and with a such beautiful Irish sunset in the background I think he was successful in this.

Nice composition. That's an interesting sculpture in the foreground. It looks like an abstraction of a docked ship, chained to the pier.

Actually the sunset is in the background. The sculpture is supposed to be the subject of the picture. Maybe I should have used a different title! 😂
