Yesterday was my youngest's thirteenth birthday! That's right, this Kat has not one, but two teenagers. Egads! How did that happen?!?!

Honestly, I am not too sad about my current status of being the mom of teens. Both of my baby gorillas have been larger than I for quite some time now, and we all look about the same age so that works to my advantage a lot of the time. Why just the other day my son was mocking me about the time our neighbor thought I was a kid when I was adorned in my snow clothes...wait a minute, grr...

Anyhoo, my Bobo is now officially a teenager. It's pretty great. I mean, instead of a normal party with cake and balloons we had something a touch different. To start the festivities, a bunch of my son's friends came over and we proceeded out to the shooting range. I had a couple of pumpkins that froze before I could get them under cover thanks to some really freaky early cold weather. I gifted them to my Bobo and his clan of firearms specialists for target practice. Pum-carnage commenced.

Next, the herd descended into my home like a plague of chicken nugget and fire hot Dorito eating locusts. I always let my kids pick what they would like to have for a birthday meal, and Bobo, being a food connoisseur and all, picked chicken nuggets, chips, mandarin oranges, and punch. Fancy.

Most of you know that I am sort of proficient at baked goods, with cakes being my forte. Well, that of course means that I ended up doing an ice cream social bar, complete with 144 homemade chocolate chip cookies that I whipped up and baked yesterday. Cause you know, I am insane.

After the kids came in from the shooting range extravaganza (Seriously, one of our friends went through at least a couple hundred rounds, darn 1%er) they all played a few raucous rounds of Rocket League as a way to warm up. During that time the grandparents showed up. And my brother and future sister-in-law. My house is not super large, so I knew the party had achieved full swing as my house was a literal crush.

So, being somewhat organized, I threw two gallons of ice cream onto the kitchen counter, a bunch of candy, whipping cream in cans, a plethora of flavored syrup, and all 144 cookies joined the frozen moo juice. I then stacked a tower of cookies and crowned it with a huge amount of ice cream. The final piece of the improvised birthday "cake" was a pretty pink candle that I lit before all gazillion people in my house started a rousing round of off key "Happy Birthday" It was fun.

After ingesting a seriously large amount of sugary ambrosia, all of the teens headed outside clad in ghillie suits and other air soft fighting accoutrements. There were many casualties, I could hear the screams inside my house as I did my thirty-fifth batch of dishes for the day. Good times.

After the grandparents, uncle, and other assorted family members wandered off, the hubs and I were left alone with five teenage boys. My daughter wisely fled with her uncle and aunt for the night, as we all knew there would be no peace that night.

In fact, this morning as I was whipping up an obscene amount of French toast, I had myself a good giggle. Apparently one of the boys slept on our not too soft wood floor for some reason. It's not like we are lacking comfy surfaces, he must have really been in the Rambo spirit or something. Going hard, you know, like an air soft pellet. Silly pheasants.

Right now they are all out in the back ten acres stalking each other again. So far I haven't hear any screaming, so I think that means that no one has been shot in the flintlocks or technicals...yet...
