Fitness Trackers: Do You Use One?
I've been thinking of buying a fitness tracker for sometime as I've been thinking of getting back to some fitness regime once the post-surgery pain and swelling subsided in my knee.
Now it's about 2 months post-surgery and I'm very comfortable walking around. Ergo, I felt it would be good to get a tracker. I wouldn't want it to break the bank in terms of price but a couple of trackers appealed a lot to me.
I got a demo of a Fit Bit Charge 2 from a friend but the price was a bit more than what I was looking to spend currently. I looked up a few options in the affordable range and found that there were many fitness trackers available on Amazon India.
Mi Band - HRX Edition.
Huawei Band 2 Pro.
Garmin Vivofit 3.
Jawbone UP3.
Lenovo HX03F Spectra.
Fitbit Flex 2.
These are some good options which won't necessarily break the bank.
Some of aspects that I needed in a band was a reasonably good tracking software, a small display that showed basic data was sufficient, and good battery life and fast charging capability was desired. I also wanted a good pedometer, heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking for now.
Xiaomi Mi Band 2 was another option I found when I was looking the Mi HRX edition and I've decided to go with it. Let's see how good it is soon.
After a few months I think I might upgrade it to a Fitbit Charge 2 because I felt their app was great and it had some great features. But it's not water proof and doesn't have an in-built GPS at its price afaik so I decided against it for the time being.
Mi Band 2 is low cost and easily replaced and having heard a few positive things about it, it seemed like a VFM buy at it's current price in India. Fitbit is nearly 6x-7x higher or so.
While I await delivery, I thought I might as well ask my readers here about their experience with fitness trackers.
Which fitness tracker do you use and why did you go for it? What were your requirements when you decided to purchase yours? So let's hear it from some of the fitness enthusiasts here.

I have used the fitbit flex and the garmin vivo. Both were nice but the real issue was not if they worked or not or provided me with details that gave me the information I needed. The real issue is, will it help you be successful with your health goals. If it will, great, it not, don't buy one.
So far it's helping. Now if these crazy rains stop I can go out and walk my 10K steps/daily :P
I bought a Mio Alpha which is a heart rate monitor watch with no need for a chest strap. It doesn’t have any other quirks like GPS or an app. But I was just looking for an easy way to monitor my heart rate to make sure I don’t push myself too hard or too little.
Thanks for your feedback. :) I think some of these new devices have a constant heart rate monitor i suppose. Pretty useful.
I have a Fitbit Ionic, it probably much pricier than what you looking for but it’s a great fitness tracker, it’s waterproof and built in gps. I’m a fan of the fitness features but sometimes it’s reluctant to sync and this also affects most of the smartwatxh features that I just pretty much gave up on.
Thanks for the feedback. I might go with fitbit when I upgrade. Many recommendations for the brand!

On the other side; these things are tracking you and sending out that information to god knows who, to be sold for the information you gather for the makers.
The linked source shows an example of these devices have given away the locations of military bases and outposts, potentially to enemy combatants... a bit more of a concern than the average person, but useful to illustrate the point.
Interesting info. Thanks for pointing me to it!
I love my Apple Watch 3 Nike.
Both of my parents have the Fitbit Charge 2 and they both love it. Hope that helps. 👍
Indeed it does. :) Will probably consider it during an upgrade.
Nice. 👍
I'm personally waiting for the Apple Watch 4 to see if it is finally worth paying the expensive price tag. It was definitely a good idea going with a low cost option first to see how often you actually use the tracker.
If you decide that you got some quality use out of it then you can consider upgrading to a more expensive model with extra features such as GPS and waterproofing in the future.
Yes Apple watch 4 has me interested. :D
I'll wait for it to come and then decide on an upgrade. Until then my goal is to hit 10K steps atleast 5 days in the week. I'm faaaar from it for now.
I would go with Mi Band as I recently read some great reviews of it.
But then .. Do I really need it ..?? ;)
These bands can just track some steps or calories or weight.. but the happiness and mental fitness one attains after a work out is immeasurable... Probably we need more advanced AI stuff.. :))
Great day! And have a speedy recovery :)
I agree. Thanks for the feedback. I saw that you work out regularly in one of your posts. I hope to resume soon myself. :)
Yup.. I rather feel addicted to working out.. haha :)
And all the best.. It brings an automatic smile to my face when I see more and more people committing to fitness.. :)
It will be good for fitness by using the watch
I would like you to stay on the one that feels most comfortable
