Kleiner Kohlweißling ■ Small white

Pieris rapae (Linnaeus, 1758)

Der kleine Kohlweißling zählt zu den häufigsten Tagfaltern. War er in früheren Jahren nur an den Küsten, an denen Kohl angebaut wurde, zuhause. Mit den offenen Handelswegen hat er seinen Siegeszug um den Globus angetreten. Heute ist er in fast allen Teilen der Welt zu finden. Die Raupen gelten in der Landwirtschaft als Schädlinge. In Deutschland fliegt der Falter von März bis November in 4 Generationen und überwintert als Puppe. Der kleine Kohlweißling kann leicht mit anderen Weißlingen verwechselt werden. Hier gilt es besonders den in Süddeutschland verbreiteten Karstweißling (Pieris mannii) zu erwähnen. Nur Experten können die beiden voneinander abgrenzen. Eindeutig ist der Nachweis allerdings über die Raupe. Beim kleinen Kohlweißling ist der Kopf grün. Die Raupe vom Karstweißling hat einen schwarzen Kopf.

In Germany the butterfly flies from March to November in 4 generations and hibernates as a pupa. The small white butterfly can easily be confused with other whites. Here it is particularly important to mention the southern small white butterfly (Pieris mannii), which is widespread in southern Germany. Only experts can distinguish between the two. However, the proof is clear about the caterpillar. The head of the small cabbage white butterfly is green. The caterpillar of the southern small white has a black head.

Warum es in der Mode immer noch Designer gibt die Stoffe entwerfen, bleibt mir ein Rätsel. Die Natur ist der beste Designer und gibt Farben und Formen in unendlicher Vielfalt wider. Man muss die Augen nur öffnen und verstehen, dass die Evolution seit langer Zeit eine große Vielfalt erschaffen hat. Man muss sie nur entdecken.

Why there are still designers in fashion who design fabrics remains a mystery to me. Nature is the best designer and reflects colors and shapes in infinite variety. One only has to open one's eyes and understand that evolution has created a great diversity for a long time. You just have to discover them.
