ColorChallenge TuesdayOrange - Physalis
Wonderfoully aged plant!
Some plants look just amazing when they reach that stage. And this one is probably one of my favourite. The fruits inside is so bright and shiny. Trapped in a delicate, orange cage

Physalis is also called Cape gooseberry and we always had it in the garden. But it was only used for decoration. The orange form (is that seed pod?) dries very well and looks lovely in winter bouquets. The flowers are not so attractive. Rather small and pale.
Lately I leaned that the small berry inside is actually edible.
Have you tried it?

Wow, that is so pretty! I’ve never heard of or seen this plant.
They are :) Maybe they are not very common in US. I have seen them growing in Poland and in Portugal, so I guess all kinds of climate is ok for them.

natural artwork on leaf..,,,beautifully captured
Oh yea... and nature knows how to impress :)
Thank you!
It's amazing how the cage of veins has stayed around the fruit. Nice photo and explanation of what it is. Thanks for sharing.

It really is. We normally try to keep it all red and pretty for decoration, but the ones that stay in the garden and decay become those pretty cages. So awesome :)
Thank you!
