Mercury has moved into Leo. It will travel there until the early morning hours of July 19 when it retrogrades back into Cancer. Mercury turns retrograde in Leo on July 7 this year. It goes direct late on July 31, moves back into Leo on August 11 and finally crosses into Virgo on August 29. So we get an extra helping of Mercury Leo / Mercury Cancer energy this year. Let's figure out what we're going to do with it.

Mercury in a Fire Sign always has strong opinions. They may not always be factually correct -- or even elegantly stated, but they're his and he's proud of them. Leo is an energy that's never shy about putting himself forward -- so you can expect your thoughts and beliefs will spend part of this time competing with everyone else's in the public conversation.

When Mercury is in Leo, everybody wants to shout and be heard. Nobody much wants to listen. Sounds a little like Twitter on steroids -- or maybe just Twitter, period ... come to think of it. Mercury is about thought and communication. Leo is about self-promotion. You can put two and two together yourself -- and see where we're going from here.

Mercury in Leo is possibly the most entertaining and engaging of the Fire Sign Mercuries. Mercury in Aries can get belligerent and in-your-face without meaning to. Mercury in Sagittarius can get preachy -- and definitely doesn't know when to shut up. Mercury in Leo though is colorful, dramatic and fun to listen to -- even when his ego is on full display and over-the-top. (He's like a big kid. You just gotta love him!)

Mercury in Leo is full of passion and confidence. (He can't believe anyone would pass up the chance to hear what's on his mind!) He often has a vision he wants to present -- that like everything else with his fingerprints on he's really proud of. He wants you to have to chance to be proud of it, too. It rarely occurs to him you might not be charmed on the spot.

That, in fact, can be his weak spot -- and his downfall. His attitude virtually screams ... Of course you agree with me! How could you not? But he's not interested in an answer to that question, so don't even try it. He won't be listening. He'll be talking over you. Or talking to somebody else ... more tractable.

Realize when Mercury is in Leo, you'll be showing some of these same traits ... perhaps unaware ... but nevertheless .... Everyone will. And when you know what to look for, you can sit back and watch it happen. It's quite a show, honestly. And we get two bites of the apple this year.
