The London Marathon - 23/04/2023
Dear Steemians
I had a great night with plenty of dancing but it was tricky to get to my usual place because of the disruptions.
The London Marathon is an annual marathon race held in London, United Kingdom. The event was first held in 1981 and has since become one of the world's most popular and prestigious marathons. The race takes place in April each year and attracts over 40,000 participants, including elite runners, amateur runners and charity fundraisers.
Today's race is set to be the largest-ever London Marathon with at least 45,000 people.
The course of the London Marathon starts at Blackheath and finishes at The Mall, passing through some of London's most iconic landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Cutty Sark, and the London Eye. The route is largely flat, but there are some challenging sections, such as the incline at Tower Bridge.
The London Marathon is known for its large crowds of supporters, who come out to cheer on the runners and create a festive atmosphere. The event also raises millions of pounds for charity each year, with many participants running to raise money for a cause that is important to them.
The London Marathon is part of the World Marathon Majors, a series of six of the largest and most prestigious marathons in the world. The other races in the series are the Tokyo Marathon, the Boston Marathon, the Berlin Marathon, the Chicago Marathon and the New York City Marathon.
I love running and I used to run marathons when I was younger. I still think dancing is one of the best forms of exercise.
This is a video that I filmed yesterday evening.
