Don't Limit Food Freedom For The Promise Of Safety

Utah, North Dakota, and Wyoming, have each enacted their own Freedom Food laws that seek to protect the rights of individuals to create their own food business from their home.

From ranchers, to farmers and bakers etc, there have been many people who have benefited from the change. And there have been hundreds of new local businesses that have come to market since the move to protect their food freedom.

Not One Report Of Illness...

The state often wants us to believe that we cannot simply start cooking in our home and then selling those products without obtaining the appropriate permissions, because it will pose a safety risk to others and they could get sick. But would you believe that since the change to the food laws took place, not a single report has surfaced about any outbreak or foodborne illness.

Risks can come regardless if someone has obtained a permit or not.

Questionable food items have been found being served at “reputable” locations that have passed through all of the appropriate checks-and-balances that are supposed to ideally ensure that you're eating at a clean place, or receiving food that's been prepared to certain standards. The strict control surrounding these establishments has failed to achieve its intended goal on many occasions.

Despite individuals being exempt from licensing requirements, permits, and inspections, in areas that have welcomed new food freedom laws, the communities haven't descended into chaos because of their newfound freedom; quite the opposite has transpired.

The government still prohibits these entrepreneurs from selling their goods at any restaurants, to wholesalers, at grocery stores, and sending them across state lines though.

However, you can still find people making a variety of items: pastries, jellies, pies, pickles, cheeses, cakes, salsa, jams, and more.

The newfound freedom for individuals who want to serve their goods voluntarily to others can bring many benefits. The promise of "safety" isn't sufficient enough to justify the violation to individual liberty, when the state requires that individuals first adhere to their arbitrary and often senseless edicts before they can serve others who are willing to trade with them.

The number of farmers in Wyoming has allegedly increased by 70 percent since the new food rules went into effect.

And at the moment, Wyoming reportedly has the best food freedom laws in the country. In areas that still have strict rules in place that essentially discourage entrepreneurs from starting a food business, such as New Jersey, various lawsuits have been launched to try and fight for the rights of those individuals to earn a living without them having to be subject to unreasonable government interference.

The rules are about control, not safety. They are also arguably politically-motivated and seek to diminish competition in the market. This is why various lawsuits have been launched and some have been successful in fighting for the right to serve others without having to endure unreasonable state-imposed obstacles beforehand.
