Naming Coins - Inspiration from Comics

What can you do when you just can't find a name for your amazing project? Perhaps, the inspiration for some coin names can be found in the world of comics....

Here are some cryptocurrencies which share their names with characters from the Marvel, DC and Image worlds. Please let me know in the comics if there are any others that you are aware of so I can add them to the list.

For each name, I've given a very brief synopsis of the character and the cryptocurrency. Hopefully you can find some mild humour littered amongst the descriptions.

Elixir

• Elixir is an omega-class mutant who can heal, and later, destroy, by touch. He is one of the X-Men and has been on various X-teams.

• Elixir $ELIX is a blockchain platform which allows users to make payments, create loans and crowdfund projects

Ink

• Ink is one of the founding members of the Young X-men and is currently part of the Astonishing X-Men. He has a number of tattoos, each one giving him a different power.

• $Ink is a cryptocurrency within the QTUM blockchain which seeks to solve problems in the cultural content industry and achieve fast IP rights verification, free trade of cultural assets and barrier-free communication of values.

Callisto

• Callisto is the former leader of the Morlocks. She had heightened strength and reflexes but lost her powers in M-DAy

• The $CLO network project will be a new blockchain developed in order to test experimental protocols, and will be an airdrop forked from Ethereum Classic

Zero

• Zero is a telekinetic and telepathic mutant whose powers went out of control. He was killed by the X-Men and has recently been resurrected

• $ZER is an experimental project aiming to solve the inherent weaknesses of previous cryptocurrencies. Unfortunately the unknown creator disappeared in 2017.

Diamond

• Diamond's body is composed of terrestrial diamonds. He was born on the extra-dimensional world of NEW GEN.

• $DMD bills itself as an ultra-scarce crypto which aims to empower people to achieve financial freedom by making each coin an interest bearing asset with high annual interest rate.

Karma

• Karma is an X-Man with telepathic and psionic powers who can possess others' minds. She was one of the New Mutants.

• $KRM is a decentralized cross-border P2P loan ecosystem

Photon

• Photon has been a codename for both Monica Rambeau (currently Spectrum) and Genis-Vell. Interestingly, both of these have also been called Captain Marvel previously.

• $PHO is a merge-mined coin which is being used for in-game transactions and simultaneous in-game mining

Eternity

• Eternity is the leader of the abstract Cosmic Powers of the Marvel Universe

• $ENT is a PoS coin aiming to be a safe way of preserving and augmenting funds.

Gaia

• Gaia is a mutant in Generation X with superhuman strength, telepathy and psychokinesis. Her curreny status is unknown

• $GAIA is a crypto aiming to use a more flexible wallet, though current development is unknown.

Naga

• Naga is a dead supervillain who was ruler of Lemuria and an enemy for Namor the Sub-Mariner

• $NGC is a debit card which seeks to allow spending cryptocurrencies online and offline worldwide

Zephyr

• Zephyr was the youngest of the Elementals, Gods who predated the Asgardians.

• $ZEPH is a reward token for a pegged cryptocurrency remittance network

Opal

• Opal is one of Iceman's ex-girlfriends. She has no powers but was described as his one true love. However, he has since come out as gay.

• $OPAL is a crypto aiming to store sensitive information fully anonymously and encrypted on the blockchain

Neuro

• Neuro was a Weapon X test subject who has the power of hypercognitivity.

• $NRO is a crypto being designed to support solutions of machine learning tasks, big data and neural networks.

Fusion

• Fusion is a mutant who has the ability to create illusions that he has powers. However this is just manipulation of others' perceptions

• $FSN is a public blockchain devoting itself to creating an inclusive cryptofinancial platform by providing cross-chain, cross-organization, and cross-datasource smart contracts.

Aeon

• Aeon is a seemingly immortal vampire who can control time. His current status is unknown.

• $AEON is a lightweight CryptoNote digital currency aiming for people to easily privately send and receive money with their gadgets

Shield

• Shield is the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, a counter-terrorism and intelligence agency

• $XSH is a quantum-proof currency being used in the peer-to-peer currency space.

Flash

• Flash is the fastest man alive and one of the core members of the Justice League

• $FLASH is a community supported blockchain based on Litecoin designed for small and fast transactions

Solaris

• Solaris is a sentient artificial sun and a nemesis of Superman

• $XLR is planning for truly anonymous transactions, working on the principle of fair distribution.

Ace

• Ace is a member of the Royal Flush Gang, a group of villains derived on the cards in a royal flush in poker

• $ACE wants to be the first platform to tokenize people (celebrities, athletes, actors etc...)

Xenon

• Xenon is a powerful being who has a pathological hatred of Supergirl because one imprisoned him at the beginning of time.

• $XNN is a crpytocurrency which claims to have the widest token distribution through airdrops to ethereum wallets. The blockchain is due to launch in July 2018

Hush

• Hush is Dr Thomas Elliot, a neurosurgeon who is Bruce Wayne's closest childhood friend and then one of Batman's darkest enemies.

• $HUSH is a private cryptocurrency and private messenger coin based on a zero knowledge proof encryption format

Shift

• Shift is a metamorph who can transmute his body into different elemental compounds

• $SHIFT is an open-source blockchain application platform where developers can create their own decentralized application (dApp)

Desire

• Desire is one of the Endless and is a sibling of Dream, the main character in Neil Gaiman's Dandman series. She is probably the cruelest of the Endless and likes to mess around with Dream.

*$DSR calls itself the "coin of your dreams" and aims to mimic DASH and BITSEND in being a coin which provides some passive income.

Atmos

• Atmos is from the planet Xanthu. He has multiple powers including flight and blasts and also has a cool suit

• $ATMS is a token associated with the Novusphere blockchain, and is the main fuel of the blockchain.

Icon

• Icon has superhuman strength, speed and senses. He is also a conservative

• $ICX is one of the largest new decentralization projects, aiming to link financial institutions, hospitals, universities and insurance companies

Elite

• The Elite are metahumans who have set themselves the task of "freeing the earth from scum". They later call themselves the Justice League Elite

• $1337 has the goal of being a gaming currency bringing crypto into the gaming world.

• TAO, or Tactically Augmented Organism, is a hyper intelligent member of the Wildcats.

• $XTO aims to present solutions for problems in the music industry using blockchain

Myriad

• Myriad is shapeshifter who is part of the Dynamo 5 group.

• $XMY is a cryptocurrency which was the first to support 5 algorithms and merge-mining.

Halcyon

• Halcyon are a team based in a world where crime is almost finished. What do these new superheroes do?

• $HAL is a hybrid PoS/PoW coin which emerged in 2014.
