My Weekly Powerup | #club100 | Architecture and art in São Miguel, Azores Island (#steemexclusive / 13 photos)

Only a few weeks ago, I returned from av visit to the Azores. Beautiful islands when it comes to landscape and nature, but I also really liked the small vilages, architecture in the cities, street art and the food. The photos here are from the main city Ponta Delgada on the largest of the islands, São Miguel. I spend my first day here, before I started to explore the rest of the island. The city is rich in historical monumnets, beautiful architecture, churces and lots of small details on the houses.

Streets of Ponta Delgada are often narrow where only pedestrians can walk. Lots of streets are only for one way drive because they are so narrow. Colorful houses. Many with a balcony. There are so many different windows, doors an balconies with interesting details.

As you see, some houses have som decorative images on the walls. We sometimes had to remember to look up from the street. Then we discovered small small figures, paintings or doves sitting in a broken window in an abandoned house. Many houses have small tiles or mosaics in blue and white with a religious motif. Many of the streets in the town center has beautiful mosaics in the street too. Ponta Delgada is a lovely place and easy to walk around. Distances are short.
