The world is getting ready for the people to rule. It sounds crazy, doesn't it? It's never happened before in history and for a good reason, most would say! People can't rule, can they? Yes we can.

THE PEOPLE RULE

Everything evolves in life, politics must evolve too and eventually it will, hard to say into what though. This is a crucial moment in history, it's a period in which the power is going from conventional political entities to centralized digital corporations such as Google and Facebook, that are rapidly changing the way we think, through techniques of behavior modification that make us addicted to their platforms.

On one hand we are ruled by politicians who are usually detached from reality and chronically unable to solve their constituency issues. They are too privileged to understand common people's problems and too focused on their careers, rather than on the commonwealth, to change what is wrong with the present day society. Democracy as we know it has been strongly undermined by that.

On the other hand we are dealing with a new thing that is growing under our eyes. We rely on free services and social media so much that we have been giving away any kind of personal information to them for more than a decade. There are companies that know more about us than our loved ones do. They know where we go, who we chat with, who we meet with, what we like and what we buy. They have tremendous power and they use it pervasively, moreover they have no actual boundaries and traditional laws are outdated or non-existent at all to contain their actions.

We must stop this, we can design a different future. For the first time in history people have the tools and the opportunity to take action by changing the society we live in to a much more organic one. A society that takes responsibility rather than electing someone to do the job on its behalf.

A world in which the people rule would be fairer and the outcome of a decentralized democracy would make the decisions taken more connected to the reality that the average person faces everyday. In order to achieve this, people must stop relying on politicians and social media by making a transition to a more proactive mentality. People's society should deal directly with problems by answering to specific questions set by small groups of experts, rather than electing a president a couple of times in a decade and then watching, powerless.

This vision of a future society is achievable and it could happen in a relatively short period of time. In order to do so people must enhance their power combined together for a common purpose. It's a simple concept but we must put it in place otherwise nobody will do it for us, no government or corporation will build a new system in which the outcome would mean for them to lose power. It's time to start the process.
