Steemit Ultimate Challenge 8 Weeks - Week #6

in #steemitultimatechallenge8 years ago (edited)

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening Steemians!

All around the world, I hope you are having a good time.

This post will be my entry to Mr. @dobartim's Steemit Ultimate Challenge. To all who follows me, come and join too for a chance to win 2000 worth of SBD, and most of all, a chance to share how did Steemit changed our life and make us live our life to the fullest.

HOW DID I MEET STEEMIT

It was December 2017, during the peak of the SBD value at about 10USD a piece. Yes, the same as most of us here, I started steeming because of hope that I can earn extra funds through posting shit like what I do in some social media that we know. But a year before I started, @dearjyoce already told me about Steemit, she said that I can earn some stash of cash by doing what I usually do on Facebook.

I agreed to read about it but I set it aside because it seems too good to be true, Imagine posting a selfie can give an extra buck. So, I did not waste my time to check on it, not a single glance at least.

Until I get involved with bitcoin, it was the middle of November that I purchase a part of bitcoin, after which, through the trading site Bittrex, I buy and sell altcoins. And the trading seems working for me that made me happy every time I earn few satoshis.

And because of excitement, I posted it on Facebook.

December 12, 2017 @dearjyoce, who's currently in Ireland, remind me again about Steemit. She said the platform is giving away altcoin or token such as SBD. With knowledge about cryptocurrency, and because I still want to learn more, I checked out the site. And that made me excited to do what it was asking me to do. Make a post.

Hahaha, This is my first post. If only @dearjyoce was here in our place during those time, She would have yelled at me. I did it the same as Facebook, I just posted "something" and that's it.

In short, I made another post to appropriately introduce my self in the platform. As we normally do in the real world, we introduce our selves first to gain company and friends. Without knowing that we are real, there were no real people will follow us.

It was exactly 83 days since I started enjoying Steemit.

HOW DID STEEMITCOMMUNICATION CHANGED MY LIFE

After my #introduceyourself post, I was surprised as I earned 24SBD worth of upvote. I am overwhelmed by what I have received. The result has energized to make more posts. But what post will I do?

Through looking at other posts under Trending tag, I am astonished by the upvotes they are receiving. @swetsssj is one of them. With the 3-digit worth of upvotes, I ask and ask anyone on Steemit how will I get that number of upvotes. With all the answers, I only get is to interact and find my NICHE.

Being a "Jack of all Trades, Master of None". I can't think of a niche, in what specific activity am I able? What is my specialty? These are the questions that are running through my head.

In my entire life, I really do not know in which activity am I good at. I don't even play basketball which is a usual past time in the Philippines. I play video games, guitar, I even sing but, I am no good at it. I just go with the flow, depending on the people I am with.

So I search for it, to be able to hit the target on Steemit, I tried writing about cryptocurrencies since almost all the community is coin hodler, and these kind of posts are the most bagging the big bucks of upvotes. But no luck, as I only got 6SBD (as the highest) from those kinds of posts.

I take photos and join the challenges to have something to post everyday...

During the search for a niche, I started joining discord groups, one of which is @steemph. As one of the advice is to get interact. But it is seldom that I talk with them in the group. I just check their messages but never respond. I only use the vote bot feature of the group that's all.

I am a kind of person who doesn't want to interact, I can still remember my college days where I don't have permanent friends like others that even have a name for it. Most especially through chat which I don't even know their identity.

Until one day, I braved my self to post a "good morning" message. And the one who responded was @dwightjaden who is very active in our chat group, that at first I thought was a homesteader as he is always present in the group chat.

He responded "Hi @davinsh" and asked for what I do in life, So I said, "I work for Starbucks". Then here comes @st3llar, @luvabi, @dreamiely, and @monkeypattycake. We began exchanging words, I laugh on my own while having a cup of coffee. And that is the very first time I connect with people who are still stranger to me.

Until @steemph hosted a meet-up, I bravely attended the meet-up, despite the feeling of being out of place as my greatest fear. I always fear to be left out. I worried that I'll just end up swiping my phone and check for non-sense. But I was wrong, I was wrong all along.

They are so accommodating, we talk about our posts on Steemit, sharing ideas on how to enjoy the platform. My 17km drive has been paid off. I overcomed my fear and I get to know the people behind @steemph, and most especially the most humble person I met @surpassinggoogle.

Though I didn't get a chance to talk to him, his posts about encouraging us to change the world through Steemit are enough to know this tall guy. He taught us that there is no such thing as red fish or minnows on Steemit, for him we are WHALE, as we can all contribute to improve the platform. For him, each and everyone of us here are whales, as we all have a heart of a whale that will make a difference in the world.

What a humble one indeed, as he keeps supporting and focusing on the new ones like me. As long as post has quality and heart, an imaginary token of @teardrops will just fly to the comments.

During my exploration with people to interact with, I don't know how but I meet 2 people who greatly influenced me to find my niche, I don't know if they knew, but @maverickinvictus and @tpkidkai are the most that I interact with. Through them I find joy in writing, I find it stress-relieving. Being the mentors of @steemitfamilyph and @promo-mentors, surely they will help more people to find their niche and to improve in it.

Yes, I never thought that writing could be my niche. Because I hate writing and most especially reading. Imagine, I finished reading The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry for 2 years and didn't understand anything about it.

Yes, that shortest novel that has a lot of pictures, I read it for 2 years. And my niche is writing that involves more and more reading.

And that is because, I enjoy doing it, with guidance those two hard-working guy that never hesitate to share their skills.

I still now bagging a bigger buck, but I find happiness whenever I write, I find satisfaction that I was able to express my thoughts. And the most improvement that Steemit Communication brought to me was, I was able to improve my writing and communications skills, which is one of my weaknesses.

That even more made me happy when @zararina scouted my post and curated. The happiest day of Steemit life. I just shared my gaming experience, but because I pour my heart into it, @curie upvoted it.

I find satisfaction in writing or blogging, to attest that, I even started my series in order to continue writing.

FIANCIAL COMMUNICATION

But with my Steemit life, I found the most wonderful thing and needed by all human in the world. Financial, not for some luxury stuff but in order to survive living, either for food or medicine. One thing I am very grateful with Steemit, aside from improving my interpersonal skill, I was able to help a friend who needs funds to save his 2-yr old daughter's life.

Through upvotes, I was able to help him to raise fund for her child's hospitalization amounting to Php500,000 (USD10,000) as of this writing. As the child is still in Intensive Care Unit due to heart and lung congenital disease. 17.36SBD upvotes plus 5SBD from @dearjyoce cannot cover all the expenses but at least could save the part of it.

Saving some part of the bill to save his daughter's life, we've put a smile on his face at least for a moment.

Still, let's pray for the past recovery of Thea.

Steemit, I will forever be grateful to you, whether, with SBD or none, hundreds upvotes or zero, you become my outlet where I am able to breathe. Through writing, photos, and drawing I will continually express my thoughts.

Dear Steemians, don't join the war but stop it. Let's just have fun and do whatever we can for this wonderful platform. This was provided to us to have fun and not to ruin it.

Happy Steeming!!

Thank You!
