[Steem talk] Where is the tip?

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

I've been studying on my investment again, now that I realized I'm stuck with several other delegations which no longer profitable as they used to. I don't think there's anything wrong with their system, but somewhat the #newsteem is not favorable for vote selling anymore. I'm going to break it down and find out the truth.

First of my favorite is #tipu. Back then when they're one of the top vote seller, and I think they're still doing a great job in terms of community driven. The vote selling part, used to be very profitable, and almost all of the income being distributed back to all the investors.

It used to be at 27% interest. But today, I did a calculation, it's down to 9%. I wish to ask, what is the depreciation value of #steem over the past two years? Well, I'm aware it's not so bad this year, but in general, from its peak until now its like 99% depreciation. How is 9% return justifyable to you? It certainly not me, but I don't know what you're thinking.

Let's talk about what has been done correctly, and is still healthy in the past! Tipping service is actually a very healthy program that can happen in the Blockchain. Whilst the service is free, tipping is a mechanism to drive cash flow from one end to another. You may be thinking why monetize network still need tipping service? An upvote is suffice because that will generate a vest value according to voting power and voting weight based on effective SP. The trouble is, we can't possibly be continuously printing #steem and selling it, in the hope people will be stupid enough to invest their life time savings in Steem?! I know you won't, and neither will I, I don't know how you can convince other investors to do so.

Back to my concern and idea of having tipping tokens to others to show appreciation will definitely bring "some" value back to the system instead of taking them out all the time. I've been playing with WeSing for a little over a year now... wait not a little. I've been there for more than a year and a half now, and I started to realized, nobody is taking money out from the platform. People willing to spend money to subscribe their VIP services. Let me cover a little big about WeSing APP.

WeSing is an online Karaoke App from Tencent, one can download and use it to sing karaoke with your mobile device for free! Different country will have different version that suits your local community, but generally they're centralized system and has a company to control their incentive activities. Best part is, who will dare to go against the Chinese government in terms of tax? So, this APP is legally using a digital in app token to incentivise their users.

I've seen the exact same kind of incentivise system in WeSing, just like #steem, but the SYSTEM does not pay their user, the user themselves will have to pay for their incentives, at the same time the system. For example if you hear someone sang beautifully, and you wish to send a gift to the person, ofcourse you can choose to send some "digital flower" which can be earned via doing daily task, and watching ads(who do you think paying for freeloader like you and me who doesn't wanna pay for the subscription fee) from the app.

But if you're going to reward the singer with monetize reward, here we go you'll have to purchase in app premium gifts. And these Gifts will worth a certain amount of "token". For each token you purchased, during transaction part of the token will be "burn", ofcourse we know the burnt value goes straight to the developer's pocket and or for operation expanses. Isn't it amazing?!

Now, back to #steem. Do you see the similarity from what I described? The token will never grow in the APP, because it's fixed and being bonded by their government, but it's not in #steem. Why can some DAPP think of the way to bring in real VALUE to their APP, and start nourishing #steem instead of keep on printing useless digital tokens and in the end all the users start selling the tokens cheap and trying to grab as much value OUT instead. Don't ask me how do I want to do it, I'm just comparing why others can do it, us can't? What happen if the entire blockchain stop printing steem/SBD anymore and everybody who wanted to vote will have to come out from their own pocket?

In support of my own call for action, I am going to load 20steems into @tipu and sending tip to anyone reply to this post(don't know if I able to make that happen, and bot is automatically excluded), if not I will transfer them individually later. Upvote or resteem not mandatory, but will be nice if you help me alert your friends to understand the concept.
