White Spring Mountain Day
Favorite place in Rila Mountain + favorite time for visiting it.
I have already several photo post about the valley of Malyovitsa, but this is the first one with snow. It is really beautiful in this time of the year. These photos are from a trek to.. nowhere actually, which started at around 1700m asl and ended at around 2500m . I didn't reach my intended destination because I got scared for my face and returned. I didn't choose the best time of the day for this trek(11am - 3pm) so I could feel how my face was seriously burning. I don't use sunscreens, the sun is pretty strong at this altitude and now I have a pretty silly T-shirt tan, red like tomato and painful face, and a great idea - I have to go back for a night trek soon, climb higher and watch how the sun rises, while there is still plenty of snow. So if I manage to do it, this post will have a second part with shots from higher points :) Also the time was not good because the snow was really soft. I've heard a mountain rule from a mountaineer - In the mountains everything should be done till noon. He was right, it would be better this way, but still it was a great trek. I love this place, its specific energy, the amazing scenaries, the beautiful peaks around and the clean mountain air are like food for my soul and I feel almost necessity to visit it regularly.
The valley is a great place for ski touring and you can see the beautiful ski traces in many of the photos.
The building is the Malyovitsa hut - pretty decent hut actually, one of the few good huts here in Bulgaria.

A stone with memory boards of perished bulgarian alpinists on the left. This stone is really huge, but now the larger part of it is under the snow.

Hey, Galen, it’s a small pocket-size old Nikon Coolpix s6500 :) I actually prefer to do smartphone photos, because I don’t want to carry anything else with me, but since I always do hundreds of photos the battery of the phone is dead pretty quickly.
Well, they look really great! I always like seeing your photos. I’m a bit jealous actually as you always seem to be in the countryside. I try to get out every week but work gets in the way! :)

I told the community about this and they responded by downvoting the reputation below zero. A new post was made and I replied politely asking to stop a few times now.
