7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #43 - winner announcement!

@rinawonderlands Asian Sunday entry:

This is my entry for today contest :) I just went here last week, and it's so beautiful. If you ever want to visit a rainbow mountain in Asia, you should check this one. This rainbow mountains are part of the Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park in China. Layers of different colored sandstone and minerals were pressed together over 24 million years and then buckled up by tectonic plates. It's similar like Vinicunca mountain, in Peru, both has different layers of sandstone colors.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #43 - winner announcement!

@josefinemk Australian Monday entry:

This picture is quite special to me. I took it when @kryptocek and I went for a little winter hike at Lake Marian in Southland, New Zealand. We lived and worked in Milford Sound for 4 months and for the longest time we wanted to do this hike - but never got to because we lost our car in an accident and it was 40 minutes drive away. So one day we hitch hiked after work, did the hike, and hitch hiked back (right before it got dark and cars would stop coming). It was so worth it. I mean, look at this view :-)

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans week #43 - winner announcement!

@vinceboisgard Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Darwin is now covered with clouds, the tide is getting high and the trees will soon almost disappear under the water. Despite the hazy weather, the sun found its way through the clouds to create this fantastic northern Australian scenery.

@axeman African Wednesday entry:

Shot with long tele-photo lens from upper deck of cruise ship while travelling up the Nile from Luxor to Aswan. Indeed was quite lucky to have full moon this evening just risen over the mountains, which at same time richly colored by dawning sun. Pure Mars landscape... Enjoy the scenery :).

On the left side steep rocky spikes of Trolltindan - mountain massive with highest rock wall in Europe - Trollveggen. As You can see everything in Norway has Troll in the name - reason? Dramatic landscape looks really like a home of big Trolls.

It's no surprise that the beaches of Southern California attract visitors from all over the world. From surfing and swimming to beach volleyball or simply finding a place to sit and enjoy the view, thousands of people flock to the beaches every day. I took this photo a few months ago just south of the famous Santa Monica Pier. It was a weekday so the beach wasn't overly crowded but it still had plenty of enthusiastic visitors.

Lassen National Park, California
I grew up in the Philippines watching American cartoons and movies, which gave me an impression of what the US America is like: big busy cities covered in snow. After @eoj took me there, I fell in love the natural beauty of the US National Parks. My favorite are the less visited ones like Lassen Volcanic National Park in California. If you're lucky you will get a nice day where you can hike through snow in shorts.

America is an amazing country with many natural wonders and their parks are just out of this world. Thank you so much for your contribution to the challenge. Have a great weekend.

Thank you, I was amazed when I went there for the first time! I hope you had a nice weekend too!

Can you see the peak?

When you start your drive in the West of the Yosemite National Park, climb and pass the Tiago pass and keep driving towards the Mono lake you are rewarded with an incredible view! Just be ready and keep your eyes open. Right before you leave the park you can stop at this small lake and take a look back at the mountains. Before your trip you should check if the Tioga pass is open. We passed it on June 1st and it just opened 3 days before!

Have a great weekend:)

Thank you so much for your entry and have a great weekend too:).....

Hobbit Land

This amazing scenery reminds me of some fantasy land like the Shire of the hobbits. There are many awesome rock formations that have multi directional grain patterns which make this place so unique. Ancient sand dunes solidified to create this marvelous land. This plateau is part of Zion National Park in wonderful Utah, USA.

:)

That's an interesting and powerful way to look at it. I would have to say yes. That's a nice place to be. Thank you!

thank you likewise for always replying so nicely ~ ❣️ ~

Wow, that sure is a very magical place.

Yosemite_5.jpg
View at the Half Dome and the Yosemite Valley. The picture was taken on the summit of Clouds Rest which has an elevation of 3.027 m. Yes, it's worth the sweaty hike ;)

What a beautiful nature, truly magnificent.

Taken on our latest camping trip we took last week to a lesser known part of the Canadian Rockies, Kananaskis Country (Alberta). As we first drove into the mountains that was the view we were greeted with, we decided this was a perfect place to stop and stretch our legs.

What a stunning image. Thank you for sharing with all of us.

This photo was taken on our breathtaking cruise to Alaska last month. It is the Majestic Glacier we saw on the tour of the Inside Passage. It was truly spectacular!

I still have to make it to Alaska. Thank you for sharing your entry with all of us. Have a great weekend. Tomas

Lower Manhattan

This picture from Lower East Manhattan was taken from the Manhattan Bridge, coming back from Brooklyng in summer 2017.

In this sunset you can see the Brooklyng Bridge at the left with it lights bulbs on the tensioners cables, the One World Trade Center, the 8 Spruce Street building, the Manhattan Municipal Building, the Trump Building, and much much more....

What a fascinating city. Thank you so much for your entry.

It is awesome and so dense in content that you can live a year on it and won´t see everything!

Thank you, Tomas, for these challenges, I struggle with posts and these contests are very entertaining to participate!

wasootch ridge 2.jpg

This is a view while hiking above Wasootch ridge. Honestly one of my favourite hikes I have done this year. This photo was actually taken with my DJI Mavik Air. This Kananaskis region of Alberta has to be one of my favourites and not to far from home!

Stunning shot. Great job!

View of Grand Teton National Park just after sunset from the shore of Jackson Lake. The way the mountains appear to just rise up out of the lake make this one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen. This national park, combined with Yellowstone, means that Wyoming has some of the most stunning scenery in the United States.

Thank you so much for your participation and this wonderful image. Kindly stay tuned for the winner announcement coming shortly.
