Hi All - here are 5 Random Facts About Me
Hi all!
First things first, I guess I'm one of those latecomer crypto 'newbloods' that jumped on the crazy bandwagon towards the end of last year (yes, one of the 'fools' the mainstream media gleefully likes to say "got burnt" when the "bubble burst" last month ;). In actual fact, I'm not complaining, my entries from November have held up OK, even during the worst of the bloodbaths... and whilst the learning curve has been steep, I've been loving every minute of my adventure in Crypto world, and am looking forward to seeing what Steemit's going to add to the mix.
Right, well, the basics: I live in Cambridge in the UK, I'm a father of two and I'm well into my boxing and gaming. I hope to write about both of those, along with the occasional reviews of altcoins and ICOs. So far, so generic!
Here are a few odd facts about me:
I lived in Kagoshima, Japan for two years

I used to teach in a school on the side of that volcano, which is called Sakurajima ("Cherry Blossom Mountain" - sounds pretty harmless, doesn't it, considering it's one of the most active in the world). Don't worry though, the kids had these bright yellow plastic helmets... so they'd have been, uh, totally safe in the event of an eruption...I am fluent in Italian

My wife's Italian - and trust me, I had no choice in the matter. Se volete fare due chiacchiere in italiano fatemi sapere!I dropped out of Cambridge University back in 2011.

Not the easiest conversation I've ever had with my parents.I set up a charity with my wife and some friends in Sri Lanka in 2012

It was a lot of hard work... honestly.I shared a house with Ellie Goulding in my final year at university

Annoyingly, she was pretty much a model housemate - so I don't have any dirt to dish.
So that's me: nice to e-meet you all - please do say "Hi" and I'll be sure to check out your writing. Hope to contribute as best as I can to this fascinating community.

Hi tidsoptimist - thanks for the comment. I checked out your blog, and I love your pencil drawings. You have a lot of talent - I'll look forward to seeing more! :)
Nice to meet you, @cryptocontender! Welcome to Steemit!
Thanks! I appreciate the welcome :)
Grande! Troppo simpatico questo post :) You sound like a cool guy to hang out with. Wat's your channel going to be about? I'm still figuring out mine, can't decide lol
ps: Out of curiosity why did you leave uni?
Ehilá Thomas, come te la passi? Thanks for the comment and the kind words. Loving your photography by the way - you look like you've done a fair bit of travelling yourself! As for the channel direction: I'm not 100% sure either :)... there's loads of stuff I get interested in. Hoping to keep it mainly to boxing, crypto and gaming if I can stay disciplined. Now that I have kids I don't get to travel so much unfortunately!
As for leaving Queens' - actually I was training to be a secondary school English literature teacher... as I had a fantastic experience of teaching abroad. However, I found the whole mentality/national curriculum back in the UK very restrictive and frustrating in the end... and it kind of killed my passion for it. Not an easy decision though!
Same feeling that I had when I took biology and psychology at uni, too dogmatic for my liking. Decided to pursue science through my photography work instead lol
I must say, we are so privileged to make these life choice decisions and to comfortably share them with other like-minded people. Much love man and steam power ahead! :D
welcome to steemit
Cheers David :)
Great introduction! Also pretty new to the Steemit community. Also did my introduceyourself today. Nice to meet!
Hi sylvesterjohn - thanks for the welcome and the kind words. I really enjoyed your introduction too - and I have to say, I'm pretty jealous that I'm not where you are right now. I love SE Asia, and I'm a huge fan of Vietnam in particular (have visited twice, and would love to again) - so many stunning places I want to go back to, Sapa, Ha Long Bay... Mui Ne! Where exactly are you based? Looking forward to your coverage of blockchain week out there. Cheers - CC
Hi @cryptocontender! I enjoyed your introduction! My friend who lives in Kagoshima also mentioned about Sakurajima ash... She said she can't hung her washed cloth outside at all... anyway, Buona giornata!
Hi @yo-yo - yes, I remember that well! Often if I left my laundry out on the balcony I would find it grey from all the "hai"! Everybody used to have to walk around with masks on during particularly active days. Ah, but I miss it a lot - it's such a beautiful city... and one day I'd like to eat kurobuta tonkatsu again! Thanks for the comment - buona giornata anche a te, cara!
