Happy New Year Steemians!

Hope all of you had a great year-end and are now fully recharged to begin 2019. May 2019 be an awesome year for all of us here in crypto after the bear year of 2018. 🐻

We’re pretty happy with what we’ve done for 2018. We recently published a blog post alongside a Steem post detailing our achievements for 2018.

Onwards to 2019, Bitcoin is finally 10 years old! Bitcoin has certainly come a long way since its creation and the future still holds plenty of opportunity for the growth of this industry.

While it is true that we can never be certain of what 2019 will do to the markets, there is little to worry about. The industry has grown a lot over the past decade and we are confident that the community will continue to #BUIDL and improve in the space.

_{CoinGecko Updates}

1. Updated CoinGecko Mobile App

Our CoinGecko mobile app has seen an update and now you can add your favourite coins in a single tab, just like on the website!

Make sure you’ve updated the App to the latest version! If you’re not using any CoinGecko App currently, give us a chance to convince you! Try us out on Google Play Store and iOS App Store!

Once you have tried our app, feel free to write a Steem review too! We highly appreciate any criticism and feedback. If you do write a review, do tag your post with #coingecko so that we can easily find it and upvote you.

2. Support for Tracking Gitlab Repositories

We recently added support for tracking Gitlab developer repositories for projects that hosts their code on Gitlab. As you know, CoinGecko analyzes code development metrics to give you a more comprehensive overview of projects. We started back in 2014 with Github and Bitbucket tracking.
We started receiving requests to also track Gitlab in 2018 and are happy to announce that this feature is finally completed! Notable coins hosting their repository on Gitlab include Tezos and Siacoinso do head over and track their developer stats.

3. Tomochain Masternode

We’ve launched our first blockchain validator node with Tomochain. Tomochain aims to solve the Ethereum scalability solution and uses a modified version of DPoS called Proof-of-Stake Voting.

The main difference is that voters will also share in the rewards of the masternode and this is built into the protocol itself. If you are interested to learn more about their masternodes rewards structure, feel free to read their economics paper.

At the moment, we’re currently the top 2 masternode on Tomochain and we’re one of the first Tomochain validators since its mainnet launched. If you have some TOMO, do try out CoinGecko’s Tomo Voting Reward Calculator to see how much you can potentially earn if you stake your TOMO with CoinGecko!

4. 2 new Widgets powered by CoinGecko

If you run a blog, you can also now insert 2 new widgets when talking about a cryptocurrency.

You can add a Coin Converter widget to let you convert real-time prices to our supported currencies.

There is also the market cap Heatmap widget to show daily changes in Market cap.

The addition of this widget makes it 9 customizable widgets tthat you can now use for free on your blog or website. We hope you try it out on your personal website and do show it to us!

5. New API Endpoints

API users can now query Ethereum tokens using the following code:

GET/coins/{id}/contract/{contract_address}.

Kindly refer to the documentation for more instruction. As we continue to improve our products including the free CoinGecko API, more functionalities will be included.

We also starting an API-specific mailing list for our API users so if you are using our API, you can subscribe to receive updates via email.

6. Ethereum Constatinople Hard Fork Countdown

Are you ready for the next Ethereum hard fork? We’ll make sure you won’t miss it if you visit CoinGecko.com to get your price fix.

We added a total 97 coins over the past 14 days. Yes, over Christmas and New Year’s😅

Interestingly, as we added Trx.market exchange to our website, a few of these coin listings are Tron Blockchain based - mostly gaming tokens. These include the likes of TronGold, DiceBet, TRONDice, Tronbet among others.
