It's not just money, that I've gained from yesterday's Viral post.

in #community7 years ago

Yesterday was a great day. My article "Recipe for writing the perfect blog post" went viral!  🚀 🚀
I've been on Steemit for 16 days only and this for me is a great success.
I was able to earn nearly $ 140 through that article but that is not what made me happy the most.

Money does not buy happiness

Even though I have not been explicitly told, this is a sentence on which my parents worked a lot during their education process.

I always take my uncle as an example: he grew up in poverty, then worked his ass off and made his way to becoming a wellknown lawyer. I am very happy for him, what he has achieved is not minor, indeed.

But is he happy? No.

My uncle is one of the most unhappy people I know. He has a yacht, a beautiful villa and a nice family yet still lives an unhappy life. He has always given too much weight to money. He has always been ostentatious, the most annoying thing for other people, which is why he remained alone. He doesn't have any friend.

Humility? He does not know what it is.

Why did that Viral post make my day then?

I came across Steemit thanks to @jeffberwick from @dollarvigilante, a person I greatly appreciate and from whom I learned a lot about a topic I'm very passionate about: investing.

By fully trusting his words I did not hesitate to register and set up my profile.

At first glance I understood the value of this platform. It is very different from other social networks.

There is freedom of speech, there is a chance to earn money by writing quality posts but above all, there are so many nice people.

Unlike platforms infested with scumbags like reddit or facebook, here reigns peace

All this encouraged me to write steadily for 15 days, that is until yesterday. Yesterday, it is the time when I wrote the most interesting and valuable post so far on my blog and for a moment I was in a state of panic: Within the first 30 minutes only 7 people had read my post and of these only 1 had upvoted it.

It was a horrible feeling. An article that I spent 2 days writing did not have the chance to be read and appreciated.
In that moment of sadness and frustration I decided to write another post: "STEEMIT, what's wrong with my posts?"

In that one, I mentioned the fact that I was astonished by the fact that my valuable article was being read by very few people. I linked the post I was talking about and magic happened

Suddently people were upvoting and resteeming my original article and writing supportive comments.
I learned a lot yesterday from those comments! On top of everything I learned that patience is key and that I should definitely start engaging with others as this is a COMMUNITY.

One of the comments I liked the most was by @sean-king. Let me copy it here as I think many people should take a moment and read it:  "Your writing is excellent. Consistently is all that's required. Right now you have 146 followers. The most successful bloggers have thousands and most got those by being consistent. My most important recommendation for newbies would be to focus on gaining followers rather than on your payout. The former will eventually take care of the latter. And the best way to gain followers is to ENGAGE with other successful bloggers by upvoting their posts and, most importantly, writing insightful comments on them. If you spend about half of your Steemit time writing your own post and the other half making good comments on others' posts, you'll eventually see good results. Be patient, friend. "

Thanks again for your support Sean!  😊  😊

Words are powerfull

At the end of the day my post received 187 views, 72 upvotes and 37 comments. I also gained 41 followers!
Probably if it had not been for the post written in frustration, it would not have had such visibility but I'm glad it did.

I got to know new people with whom I believe I will establish strong relationships.

Thank you all. You are awesome!

In particular, I would like to thank the following for their special support and encouragement demonstrated:

Thank you so much guys, you made my day!  😊

Till next post, love ya all.

Thank you @askaran! You're awesome ✌

Great post, followed you. Keep at it.

Interesting! Your post touched home with me. I was lying in the bed last night thinking about what really motivates people. And for most it's money. People are judged by how much money they have and how much education they have. And when some people obtain these thing they find it really doesn't bring them happiness. Their souls are still empty even though their pockets might be full. I'm new to Steemit trying to figure this thing out and while I'm on this journey I have to keep in mind what I just said.
Good luck to you!

You said it! I'm glad you find yourself in what I've written. You will eventually figure out how it works. We all have to put a lot of effort in it but then good things will come for sure. Have a great rest of your day and thanks for sharing your thoughts with me and the rest of us :)

Congrats @budgetmarketing :-)
Very kind. Thanks a lot for the mention :-)

Thanks to you my friend! :D

You are very welcome :-)

One of the best blog posts I have read today. Thank you:)

Hey, thanks. You made me smile!

A upvote would make my day :)

Due to a lack of a way to save threads you profit, and I resteemed it :D Also this thanks for voting on my last post drew my attention to it and now you have my 2 of my votes haha. :D

Thank you very much my friend. Really appreciated you doing it :)

Wow, hope to be as successful as you one day! I see how Steemit can be great once you have some followers, but gaining those seems equivalent to what they call ELO hell in league of legends. To gain followers, you need followers... You start thinking of chickens and eggs - where does it all begin? - and before you know it you're making an omelet because you're not sure if all the pondering made you dizzy or you're suffering from low blood sugar. Anyhow, your post inspired me and I'll just keep at it. At the very least, if unsuccessful, I'll get all buff from my new protein rich diet.

I here you my friend. You might want to read the comments on my previous post that made me rethink all my concerns. https://steemit.com/new/@budgetmarketing/steemit-what-s-wrong-with-my-posts
Those comments were very supportive and I believe you also need some support. Don't give up and keep on posting. I followed you and looking forward to read your articles!

great work!
follow me!

Congrats, the most important thing is that what you are creating is important and enjoyable to you, and if other people like it also that is a nice bonus ;)
