This book has 743 pages. Studying this book will give you basic knowledge of things a social psychologist would concern their selves with. This book will share many classical studies in psychology. This will allow us to review empirical research in the field of social psychology. This book will look at investigations between the early 1930’s through 1958. This will be a fun look into these investigation because there should be a lot of reviews and information online about these investigations.
This book is intended for use by undergraduates in general courses in social psychology. We will not review any investigation that is based on purely methodological investigations or those of the personality-social type.

The Society’s membership also includes, however, many psychologists in a variety of other areas of specialization, as well as social scientists from other disciplines, all of whom share the conviction that psychological analyses can contribute to the understanding and solution of pressing social problems.

Introduction: Some Problems and Issues

Social Psychology does not have a specific theoretical development. It is diversified within the different behavioral sciences based on the questions you are trying to answer.

Theory, however, is not simply a function of what problems are studied but also of who studies them.

Concepts and theories vary based on the social problem a social psychologist will investigate.
What is the social behavior of your subject?
Why is this specific behavior being displayed in this specific behavior being displayed in this specific social environment? These are questions a social psychologist seeks to answer; among a ton of others.
There are many fields of behavior science that can find an answer to the same social problems yet they all will be different answers. A social psychologist investigation is endless.

It’s possible to use different terms to describe the same behavior or process.

The influences on the theoretical thinking of social psychologists come from general psychology, personality, sociology, anthropology, and, to a lesser extent, economics and political science.

It is also possible to use the same concepts or terms by different theorists about different events.
You can find your hypothesis and theories through observation. The cycle is ongoing helping to improve/update your hypothesis and theories based on new observations.
Prepare for your research. What methods will you employ? What kind of event will you study? What empirical techniques will you employ?

Social psychologists may employ any one of a number of methods in the conduct of their research. Which method they use depends on the objectives of their investigations.

A social psychologist use experimental laboratory, field study, natural experiments and field experiments among other ways to investigate their subject.
Collecting qualitative and/or quantitative data is a part of the investigation process.

The extent to which generalizations are possible from a set of research findings is a continuing problem for those engaged in studies of human behavior.
