Vintage Hair Styling by Betty Noir
So as well as a photographer I’m also a vintage hair and makeup artist. I love to recreate styles from 1920s-1960s. Most ladies who come to see me usually opt for a 40s or 50s style, so I had great fun with this 1920s creation on my dear friend Kate.
I opted for a modern version of the classic finger wave. They are so much easier and less time consuming to create, but equally as beautiful, sculpting those S waves to frame the face. At the back I created a Gibson roll (essentially a long roll of hair across the nape of the neck), making sure I left out an inch or two of hair accross the crown, to curl and sculpt into more S waves, running down the head and forming classic pin curls with the ends of the hair, and placing around the edges of the style.
A beautiful vintage style, that looks just as elegant today as it did 100 years ago.
