Well-fed and contented.
Well-fed and contented.
Being well-fed and contented is a great blessing, and one usually follows the other, lol.
Although, sometimes it's hard to understand that being full brings joy, especially when there's a sense of competition, like in a hot dog eating contest, where the competitors seem full, but you can't tell from the expressions on their faces whether it brought them moral satisfaction or not.
Pigeons living in parks with a large flow of idly strolling people, who simply scatter bread crumbs and grains everywhere, probably experience this same feeling.
Pigeons should be well-fed, but they see other pigeons eating the crumbs, and this forces them to compete for food.
My stomach may already be full, but exercise is stronger than any discomfort. I need to keep going and keep eating.
Some poultry farmers use this insatiability of birds to their advantage. For example, if you leave the lights on in the coop, the broilers will constantly see a reason to compete and peck at the feed while the other birds are sleeping in the dark.
It turns out that, at least sometimes, it's useful to hide food to prevent competition.
